Music at the BBC.
The BBC in the 60's and 70's served interesting functions. And one was to have some of the greatest bands perform live there. The Beatles, The Yardbirds, The Who, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Kinks. Black Sabbath (albiet not very much). To me, it is very interesting. The origins behind having a band do very different versions of their songs and even perform live in concert. I just think it is interesting that I have a fascination with this thing. I don't know if it was the atmosphere that comes through in these recordings. I don't know if it was that the bands seemed freer when recording or what.

1. There have been lots of great BBC sessions right up until the present day
and not just on the always great John Peel show. The Peel Sessions recordings can often be the best way to hear some bands. 4 or 5 songs per session, professional producer, not much time for overdubbing or messing about. It was often the first time that some bands had ever been in a reording studio.
