I'm a big snow chicken

I'm working from home today. I've gone in and spent enough hours on I-95 over the years, thank you. Call me a typical DC'er if you will, but I've done my time on that road. Today I'm home.

Not one flake has fallen here in Northern Virginia . . . yet.

10. I know where you're coming from

My first real full-time job was in the membership department of AAA. I didn't have a car, so I took the job so I could get on the van pool. My boss, the driver, was a neighbor, so that damn van would stop in front of my house and if I could slide out the door to it, I had to go to work.

You can't get away from going to work when your boss comes to pick you up! Especially if the company does roadside rescue! They were always our busiest days. And we stayed as long as possible.

I spent hours on I-95 in horrible weather, one time (the day the plane hit the 14th st bridge in D.C.) It took us 6 hours to get from Falls Church to Woodbridge, VA. So I have paid my dues. :)

That was tons of fun when it snowed in up-state New York!

7. I don't know the history

but I believe there was a major school bus accident around here many years ago. Now they cancel snow at the threat of flurries.

Driving a school bus is bad enough, I can not imagine trying to do it in a snow storm. :yourock:

several times a salt truck had to be sent out before buses could move - the radio calls for help were unnerving to the drivers and students alike.
