Life's little ironies, Chapter 23: snow on my crocuses |
|
My crocuses started to bloom Saturday, and about 50 more came into bloom yesterday. Today they're being covered in snow.
Welcome to late winter in the Midwest!

.... it's probably worse down here in Texas. We get late freezes all the time.
Since many plants that are popular down here are actually adapted for more northern climes, they pop up at the first sign of spring. We had 2-3 80+ degree days last week.
Lots of stuff is going to pop up only to to be frozen in the prime of its life :) But I love this time of year when stuff starts going green. It's incredible :)

... my whole attitude took a 180 in the positive direction Saturday, just as soon as I saw the little fellers in bloom.

3. Ha! You're the lucky one. You HAVE them even if they're covered right now |
|
Mine don't look like they'll ever bloom! Everything ist all strange - roses had buds in December (this is Germany!) and now it's freezing. Wish I had some crocus!
