Jaimie Fox's speech moved me to tears
One of the most moving, loving speeches I have heard on these type shows. The show was worth it just for that.

2. "Act like you got some sense." "Act like you been somewhere."

Words of advice he received from a mentor, who he talks to now only in his dreams.

"I can't wait to go to sleep tonight, because we have a lot to talk about."

I agree. It was wonderful.

4. Her getting an Oscar for giving the best whooping
made me laugh. Now a days if you "whoop" a kid you go to jail! Here he is bragging about her, talking to her in his dreams and crediting her for the start of his acting ability.

I gotta watch this guy, he has hooked my to his star.

3. I normally don't watch the oscars
preferring to catch a round-up of the winners and losers online but tonight I happened to catch the last half hour and I saw Jamie Foxx's speech as well and I was crying like a baby.
He deserved the oscar in my opinion and I was thrilled he got it:)

5. I choked up a bit too...Jamie Fox is very talented, he had
some tough competition, and I'm glad he won--it seems like it's just his "time."

6. It was a tough one to listen to
My own grandmother just died a few months ago. About the only difference there was that my grandmother didn't whup me.

It was quite a moving speech; Fox has come a long way in a short time.

8. It was similar at the Golden Globes,
but very heart felt and heart warming. I HATED the Oscars, however. It was far and away the WORST Academy Awards presentations, ever, and I have seen most all of them for the last 45 years. I think the Academy must have felt the same way as there sure were lots of empty seats. I did think it appropriate that there were so many beige and cream dresses -- because that color was a metaphor for the entire show -- boring!!!! Chris Rock??? PLEASE!!!! NOT Funny!!!! Sean Penn didn't think so, either -- Rock's best line all evening was a come back from Penn's dissing him over Jude Law. P.Ditty?????? PRINCE???? There were presenters who I didn't even know! YUK!!!!

10. I agree -- amazing speech.
I saw him on "Inside the Actor's Studio" a couple of months ago and he spoke of his grandmother. She basically raised him and was an amazing source of inspiration for him. He choked up on the show and you could feel the love he had for her.

I had some serious tears in my eyes when he said that he "couldn't wait to go to sleep" as they had a lot to talk about.

My grandmother and I were very close and she had Alzheimer's for the last seven years of her life and didn't recognize me. She died a couple of years ago and, while it was a blessing, I miss her so much. I had a dream a couple of weeks ago and my grandmother was in it, and it was her before the Alzheimer's. I told my wife that I had a dream that my grandmother came to visit me. My wife replied, "Maybe she did."

11. I liked it the first three times I heard it
After that, it loses some of the emotion.

I think it's great that he loves his grandmother and is honoring her. But it's no longer a surprising tribute.

Every Oscar Speech should be like Morgan Freeman's speech.
