I Had a Thought in the Middle Of The Night

I had a dream in which a building exploded. I'm sure you've all seen pictures of those controlled demolitions, in which explosives are carefully placed in strategic locations in order to bring a building down exactly on itself. They've used this technique to bring down Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, the Dunes and Landmark Hotels in Las Vegas, and many others around the world. It takes weeks, and sometimes months, for them to plan out where to place the explosives in order to make these demolitions work right.

Now - here's my question.

On September 11, 2001, two airliners crashed into different areas of the Twin Towers. And a few hours later, both buildings fell in a pattern that is very reminiscent of a controlled demolition, with the debris falling mainly into each building's own footprint.

Was that chance, or......???? :shrug:

1. No it wasn't chance...

but it wasn't the controlled implosion used at the Three River Stadium either. Saw a documentary some time ago, wish I could link to something but it was on Discovery Channel if anyone has the urge to look for it, and the towers were built purposefully to fail by collapsing inward and down as a safety measure. The goal was to prevent the towers from falling over (!) in case the 'unthinkable' ever occurred.
I think they were engineered in the mid 1970's and the threat was fire or some other run of the mill accident.
...but I'm no engineer.

2. Not sure if they were built to fall straight down,

which could indeed be the case and I just never read about it, but their design WAS the reason they collapsed straight. Too long an explanation to go into here, but I'd think it wouldn't be too hard for you to find the information.

4. Controlled demolitions aren't always controlled. Ask the owners of the

People Mover (City of Detroit) about when the Hudson's building came down. Which I, personally thought was a shame. They should have done away with the People Mover and kept a beautiful piece of Detroit History. :hi:

5. The whole thing was wrong.

There was actually a demolition expert who was trying to get the 9/11 commission to listen to him about that very fact. He said there was no way those building could have come down like that without a controlled demolition. There was a rumor that the same company that carried the debris away way there a few weeks before 9/11. If you do a search about that day, you'll find some really interesting reading like New York City is 11 letters, George W. Bush is 11 letters, etc. It's interesting reading any how. Whether or not the truth will ever come out. Well, we are still waiting on a plausible suspect in the Kennedy assassination.
