I dreamt last night that I was living in New York City in 1948.
It was SO damn real. In my dream, I woke up and didn't know who I was. Didn't know who the guy sleeping next to me was. Didn't know where I was. Couldn't find my fucking cell phone.

Went out to the kitchen and found a ROTARY dial phone. Freaked me the hell out.

I decided to get the hell out of there and started looking for my purse. Found it. Looked to see if I had a check card, VISA, checkbook, something. Nothing. Five dollars and some change.

Tried to find out my name. I had an identification card that read "Mrs. Frank Sumpter." Eh? Mrs. Frank?

Looked us up in the phone book. Mr. Frank Sumpter, no mention of me.

Tried to find a checkbook and finally found a big desk set of checks in the study. The name on them was "Mr. Frank Sumpter."

Now WHY the hell didn't I have an identity? The last thing that happened was I yelled "WHAT'S MY FIRST NAME??????"

Woke up. Have NO idea what predicated that dream, but damn I'm glad I live in a time when I can have a first name.

1. There was no VISA card then....
and you could park your car on the street. And married women had no identity then--so your dream is accurate.

2. Yeeessh. It was scary.
And too vivid. I was running around in some kind of sheer robe thingie over a nightgown that made me look like a four year old. Bows and ribbons and ruffly collar and sleeves. Ick.

3. Wow -- That's a Great Dream
especially the level of reality. Now, is there currently something in your life that makes you feel the way you did in the dream?

4. I don't know.
Maybe that I just taught myself how to knit. Maybe it's bringing up equality/feminism issues for me or something. ????

10. That Would be a Good Trigger
An emotion or an emotional association is just as likely to inspire a dream as a person or place.

I was going to post in your other thread. I dreamed it was easier than it looks.

It IS easier than it looks, by the way. This is coming from a woman who can barely do ANY crafy things.

I should post a picture of the half-done scarf. Oh and if you are in NYC, there is a great Stitch N Bitch group that meets.

Check out this book, she started it:

That's the book I learned out of.
