ok. Tell me what you really think about Courtney and Hole

I like what she represents. I like her scratchy, throaty voice. I think she is a total attention seeker. Not sure about her band. I like some of the songs, but on the whole, I prefer L-7.

a lot. I think she's just got ultimate rock goddess looks and attitude.

Saw her live a few months ago at a small club here in town - she was great. She's also a great actress - did you see People v. Larry Flynt?

I admire her attitude in some ways. And I feel bad for the chaos that her life seems to be, although maybe that is the way she prefers it.

As for Hole? A pretty typical group of competent corporate rock musicians for hire. I'm probably one of the few people on DU who don't think that is a bad thing. I don't think they break new ground although that seems to be their "persona."

I just didn't like the way you said it initially. It is always hard when someone seems to crave self-destruction and that is probably what your initial statement implied. There are times, though, that this self-destruction is seen as more abhorrent for women than for men in the music industry, and in general; and that is likely what I was responding to.

although i concede she's not the greatest role model. i think that when she's lucid and clean she is a great singer and performer and a marketing genius. ONLY WHEN SHE'S LUCID! the rest of the time she's an absolute mess, which may help her art, but ruins everything else.

check out "Live Through This" for Hole at their best. You might be surprised if you like edgy, hard rock that is not the standard fm offering.

i don't think she killed kurt, she was just another symptom of his problems.
