Microsoft Messenger users...
have you started getting this notice intermittently while chatting?

"Notice: All instant messages sent to and from this buddy name will be logged by the IM Auditor and are subject to archival, monitoring, or review and/or disclosure to someone other than the recipient."

It keeps showing up. Seems strange, but I can't find any reference to it on the net.

1. Is this at your place of employment?
If so, I think they have logging fully in place and you should be very careful.

3. Hmmm.... even more interesting - what version?

Very likely your recipient is behind a network with full logging in place?? Possible?

If it's 6... go to Tools-> Options and click on the "General" tab. Make sure that the "Allow Microsoft to collect anonymous info... blah blah blah" is unchecked.

4. it's version 6.2
and that checkbox is off. Maybe it's my friend's workplace doing it. If nobody else is seeing it, it's probably that.

"The increased use of instant messaging (IM) within the enterprise causes compliance and technology challenges for compliance officers and IT professionals, especially those at companies subject to government regulations. Regulations mandate that all correspondence, including electronic correspondence, between employees and clients be captured and stored for auditing purposes."
