6. Biting and swallowing his finger nails

When my mother was in grade school, she encountered a woman in a department store who noticed that she was biting her nails. The woman said "I used to bite my nails, but then I had to get my appendix out because of it. That's what will happen to you if you keep doing that."
A couple years later, my mother did get appendisitis and had to have her appendix removed.
