Wow! Looks like a LOT of snow coming down!
I sure am glad I'm in Texas, and it's not snowing HERE!

Anybody who lives north of the snow line deserves what they get...

2. Thanks A Fuck Of A Lot
Edited on Mon Feb-28-05 09:30 PM by mermaid
I am having to LEAVE Texas because I can't fucking find work down here anymore...and having to go back home to Mommy in goddam snow-hell in Pennsylvania.

Thanks for rubbing salt in my wounds.

'Preciate it.

See how much YOU like Texas when you lose YOUR job and can't get another decent-paying job to save your life...and see how much YOU enjoy trying to wrench piddly unemplyment checks out of the system who only wants any little excuse in the world to deny you your payments.

Fuckin' Texas.

I've had all I want of this place. employers are God's here...they can never do wrong, and their word is Gospel truth....and employees are shit down here...
An employer can LIE about why you got the shaft and fuck you out of your unemployment, and usually you cant do a goodam thing about it.

Screw this.

I've had it with trying to make a go of it in Texas.

Nuch as I love the no-snow weather...I need to eat.

With your little snarky comment about people who live north of the snow line...I sure hope YOU are never forced, against your will into moving up there...and I sure hope that if it DOES happen to you...no one rubs salt in YOUR wounds, like you just did to me.

Have a nice time in Texas, and think about me when I'm in snow up to my asshole. Thanks a whole fuck of a lot for making me feel just fucking lovely.

See How much "ha ha" you have left when you come to the realization that you are a loser at age 34 because you gotta go back home to Mommy.

See how much "ha ha" is left in you when you face employment discrimination and can't do a fucking thing about it.

See how much "ha ha" you have left in you after walking a mile in my fucking shoes.

25. I Have No Humor Left.
It hurt. It hurt like a motherfucker. The main goddam reason I didn't want to go back to Pennsylvania was the motherfucking snow. and to hear this guy gloat on about how nice and warm he will be while I freeze my ass off as a 34 year old loser...well, I'm sorry, there is no goddam humor here.

He ripped my heart out and it is just that simple.

He ripped my heart out, filled the hole with salt, and then pounded a fucking stake into it just for good measure.

I hope he knows how bad he hurt me.

KNEW the main reason you didn't want to go back to Pennsylvania was the snow.

I bet he posted that on purpose just to rip your heart out, fill the hole with salt and then pound a stake into it.

I betcha he thought "Hey how can I hurt the shit out of mermaid on DU? I know, I'll jokingly post about snow and how I'm in Texas and not getting any, that'll really just tear her heart out."

Maybe you should hit alert? Or put him on your ignore list?

But this is crazy. It's a humorous post in the lounge. What LDS said is that Prisoner Number Six couldn't have had any idea how you felt. Can't you take THAT into consideration before you start yelling at everyone?

I get that you are hurting. I get that things suck for you right now. BELIEVE me, I get it. You aren't the only person who's ever gone through a REALLY shitty period in their life. But I what I don't get is how that gives you the right to go off on everyone. It doesn't.

12. Another Dem leaving Texas
Damn. Another Dem leaving Texas-- there's only a handful of us left here it seems.

Sorry 'bout what happened. It's a shitty deal. It hapened to me, also. When I was 34... and in TX, too. Honstly, I hate this place. The culture is steeped in good ol' boyism and God forbid you have a Demo bumber sticker on your car if you get pulled over by the State Troopers.

You lived in Austin, though and that is a bit different (I read your main post this afternoon-- I'm not some weidro... :silly: ).

Hang in there, kid. My prayers and good thoughts are with ya. I've got a gut feeling that you're a scrapper and you'll come outta this lookin' better than ever.

and to finally have come to the point where I know there is no way I will get to stay here...

And then to have some guy rub salt in my wounds by mocking the fact that it is snowing up there...and how nice and warm he will be in Texas while I freeze my fucking ass off...goddamn it it just really hurt. A lot.

And I hope he comes back and reads this thread and knows how badly he hurt me.

--that was after my knee replacement from arthritis forced me to quit a job I'd had for fifteen years.

I got out of it by starting my own business-- in Dallas Texas.

Go figure.

BTW, I was born and raised in northern Indiana and Ohio. I've shovelled my way through a thousand showdrifts in my time. I've earned the right to laugh about it.

Perhaps one day you will too.

23. I Already HAVE
I left Pennsylvania last in 1997, vowing never to have to go back to that hell hole...after the fucking blizzard that dropped 39 goddamn inches on us at one goddamn time!

Six ana half fucking hours I was out shoveling out my car, and for what?? So a fucking city snowplow could come along and rebury my ass, creating another goddam six hours of work.

Goddamn

I did not want to have to go back. I desperately tried anything I could to avoid it. But in the end...I lose. And it hurts. Badly.

And this guy just rubbed salt in the wounds. Hope he sleeps well tonight, knowing he just damn near ripped my heart out.

there is nothing wrong with snow. Speaking as someone who lives in the "Great White North".
Okay, I'm lying. I hate snow too. Heavy to shovel. Hard to walk through. etc. BUT, it does give us needed moisture in a very dry climate.

What!?

Will no one think of the farmers?

I don't mind shoveling it, I've been driving in it since I was 15, and its easier to drive in than wet roads. That said, I've never been to Texas, but the few people I've met from there seem to really know what the word neighbor means.

And to have the OP post what he did about people who live north of the snow line....well, he might as well have ripped my heart out, stomped on it, and poured salt into the wound.

with the expense and hassle of moving...no, I won't be back in warm weather for a long time to come. i'm gonna be stuck in fucking snow hell...eight years it's been and in all that time I have seen snow three times.

I never wanted to have to see it again.

Now I am going to have LIVE in it againn...for at LEAST seven more years, until my mom finally retires and moves South. Because I'm not likely to leave my mom amnymore now.

I already planned on moving back with her when she retired, because I didn't want her to be alone at that point.

the difference is...THAT would have been a CHOICE to move back in...not an economic FORCE.

I would have gone back because I WANTED to...not because I HAD to. and it makes all the difference.

I am a pathetic lousy player at life. I'm a 34 year old loser who isn't worth jack shit. Just ask all the employers in this state...since none of them seem to want to hire me, I must really be a big-time loser.

15 million people manage to make it in Texas, but I can't, so what does that say about me?
