2. How funny

I have been on the baby name kick because my husband and I are finally getting around to this much put-off project (having a baby!). I have been studying the girl names mostly because that's what I feel we will have first. I'm willing to share with you my top choices!

we've decided on Eleanor for her first name, and Maria Theresa for her middle names. These are family names from both my side and my husband's. I like more traditional names rather than the trendy Sierras and Destinys. I also like Claire. I guess I like the more classic names because I was saddled with Ember. I have been called "Amber" my whole life and I hate it.

I see about 300 kids a week, and half of them have the above stated names. Why would a parent want to name their child something that everyone else is using? When I was young, there were always multiple Jennifers, Jessicas, Heathers, and Ambers. Not to mention Justins, Jasons, and Dustins.

I think it's important that the two "fit".
But they shouldn't rhyme.
I knew a girl named Carol McCarol.
We called her "Carol McCarol McCarol McCarol McCarol"...ad infinitum.
Aliteration sometimes works.
Our daughter is "Leigh" (Lee). The only thing she doesn't like is that when strangers see it written they sometimes call her Lee-ah.

The common name Laura may originally be from Basque, since Lora means Flower. And the name Maite (or Mayte) is increasing in popularity in the English-speaking world. It's Basque for Amy or Amanda, and is the Basque word for love.

Elizabeth (It is also my husband's grandmother's name). Maybe, Margret. I think it is important that women have formal stronger sounding names to be taken seriously although perhaps that won't be as important in the future. Along the same lines Helen, Katherine, and Anna. I think that my great grandmother's name, Angelia, is rather pretty though.
