Anyone have pretty Fall leaves yet?

here in Tn the maples are just turning. I hope to get some good pictures this year.

I'm getting pictures, too! My idea is to take a photo of one grove of trees each week, which I pass on my way to work. Then put the photos together using Photoshop. It will be a record of the leaves turning until they drop.

6. Have you ever

panned your camera and taken a panoramic photo that way? I mean take all the photos and cut them at the right places and then glue them together. It works better than you may think, of course you have to photograph all that stuff pasted together. I'm from the old school.

Pocket cameras are best for this in my experience. Easier to pan the itty-bittier the camera, I guess.

7. Big "leaf peeper" weekend here

Cars and busses everywhere!

We're a few days shy of peak color, I'd say. It's quite beautiful.

8. here in the White Mountains of NH

we are at near peak foliage. It's a spectacular show this year!! Plenty of rain this summer, and cold nights & warm days - the leaves are glorious.

I did a lot of driving this week - and the drive north on a clear day, with the foliage blazing in the higher elevations was really spectacular. In one place on the road north, the view opens up, and you could see the first snow on top of Mt. Washington - all the out of state cars were doing about 25 mph with their mouths open. Really fun to watch.

The Kancamaugus Highway is stellar this weekend - as is Crawford Notch, if you're in this area. Climb Mt. Willard, in Crawford Notch. It's a low key hike with a spectacular view as a reward.

I drove to Rangeley the other day and I was behind 2 cars whose drivers didn't know what a gas pedal was for. Oh well, at least they eat in local restaurants while they're here. We're lucky to live in an area people have to drive to to see. :)

10. There is just one perfectly fformed, perfectly pinkish red Maple tree in

our neighborhood. The rest are green/brown. But that tree, WOW.

13. We have a few

I guess it will be a week or so before the peak. Of course, the tree in our backyard is so huge that it takes over a week for all the leaves to fall off. Last year we were't able to rake them up before we had a continuous week of rain...yuck. But the colors are really lovely!

16. No pretty fall leaves here in the high desert.

Of course, in developments, there are shade trees planted and irrigated. Many that will survive here in the heat, wind and alkaline soil don't have big fall color. Those that do, the wind takes the leaves so fast that you don't really get to enjoy the color.

the fall colors seem to have appeared almost overnight. At least I didn't notice them until about two days ago.

20. Edge of the prairie, still starting to get some color.

No real forests here (from the East Coast, miss them trees!), but the color's starting to really come out. The prairie will soon be totally golden, which is a sight to see!

23. Central & Eastern Wisconsin

almost past prime in some places. Spotty in others. It's been a wierd year with the summer drought in the Central area and heavy rains in the North East.

I got some good picutres of the maples yesterday and also of the Canada geese flocking to our neighborhood pond.
