I was just thinking about something that happened to me in june, and I'm so slow I didn't get the humor until now.

I went to Mexico this summer with a school group. One of these girls I went with I didn't really care for. She was loud, obnoxious, and a self-proclaimed republican. she basically embodied every American stereotype I didn't like. We were staying with this family who happened to have a son. A very cute son. So one night we, the girls and Armando, were in the sitting room and, let me tell you, this Molly, this girl is a TERRIBLE flirt. Or at least I thought so. Anyhoo, I was looking at his high school diploma that was on the wall and she saw it. In case you didn't know, in Mexico, and i think in other latin countries, their second name is their mother's maiden name. His second name just happened to be Moran. When Molly saw it, she laughed and said, "you middle name's Moran? That's funny!" It didn't occur to me until now that there are two people who think that "moron" is spelled "moran." :P

You know breezy I mean like blonde, dumb as rocks, and like whatever. You know the typical popular blonde in the Teen movies whos likely well off finacially too and going to a good school despite being a ditz. I am a middle guy in school with friends on all sides lol, my friends laughed so hard when I told them I owned the communist manifesto. I gotta bring it in on Tuesday, I dont get it, I am not a commie but Adam Smith's book the Wealth of Nations is in our library but the Manifesto aint. :shrug: well I am gonna enjoy reading Mr. Thomas Paine.

That was his last name. He was a smart nice guy. I don't think he got made fun of in college for it. I didn't ask if he ever got made fun of in high school for it. At my school, he would have.

11. Oh, lordy... The stories I have

From my freshman year in college. Same type of girl - flirty, flighty, republican, and obnoxious. Amongst other things...

1. She didn't know she was white. She was going to put down Hispanic on a survey the frats had left in the dorms.
2. Couldn't use the card catalog (elementary ed major)
3. Didn't know which side of the US the Atlantic and Pacific oceans were on.
4. Thought Washington D.C. was in Washington state.
5. Had a real problem understanding basic cause and effect principles in phsyics - one day after a heavy snowstorm, we were walking back from class. The entire campus - including streets - were covered in 2 inches of snow except for the manhole covers in the streets which had smaller holes in them, and steam was gushing out of these. She asked, "Why did the physical plant go and just clean off the manhole covers instead of the entire street?"

Fortunately, I don't think she ever went into her field of study.
