Everything else now is secondary.

1. WillPitt is taking on Notre Dame?
I might actually tune into that one! ;)

3. Baseball? Today?
My TV is nicely immune, as it has been for all but 5 innings this season. Got stuck in a Saratoga deluge the night of the all-star game.

Notre Dame has a 6 point lead and 4 minutes to kill.

I know this is bizarre, but the only teams I root for are Miami, USC and Notre Dame -- in that order.

4. Notre Dame wins!
I never root for Miami--always for whoever they're playing.

Use to like USC until I actually went to one of their games--it was just toooooooo Hollywood.

5. Yep, very tame ending and great for the Irish!
ND ran out the clock as Pitt fans departed en masse.

You're right about the 'SC games, joeybee12. That's my alma mater. Half the student section would be empty during the games because so many came primarily to socialize and be seen. They would be mingling near the concession stands, then come back to the stands just in time to hear the Yell Leaders announce where the big frat parties would be.

6. The SC fans don't like rain, either
The one game I went to was in, I believe, 1984, when ND played USC and it poured. There was not one SC fan left by half-time, even though the game was close almost til the end.

SC used to be my second favorite team until then.

Why do you cheer for Miami first, before USC?

7. I'm from Miami and attended the games from age 7
None of my friends could believe I was going to 'SC. In Miami I despised the Trojan football program, calling the talk radio shows to knock them.

Then I got a half scholarship offer from USC, and suddenly the weather, women, great journalism program, daily student newspaper and bigtime athletic department all made sense as a package. Still, it took me more than half a season to actually start rooting for the football team.

Oh how I remember that '84 game vs. Notre Dame! That was my era. Our primadonna QB would not even bend down and get his uniform dirty when he fumbled the snap. Right, the stands were barren.

We regrouped on a perfect day to upset Ohio St and Keith Byars in the Rose Bowl.

8. Screw Football: Proposed constitutional amendment
Edited on Sat Oct-11-03 10:09 PM by Jack Rabbit

1. No official football game shall be played in the Fall until the World Series is completed.
2. The Commissioner of Baseball shall have the right to extend baseball season through Thanksgiving if necessary.

The third clause I would like would be one to require the Super Bowl to be played before the NBA season starts, but I guess I have to compromise with football fans and allow them a longer season.

9. Don't bury this here
Sounds like a thread unto itself, probably generating considerable replies.

I would wax sarcastic except I'm too busy watching King Football, for the past 11+ hours and counting.
