5. the reason why the switch to religious addiction seems to work
I think, is I'm coming to understand that addictive and compulsive behavior stems from a deep, insidious fear of death. That people with addictions suffered an early, primal exposure to an anxiety that felt life threatening, which need not have been overt or obvious. So now all anxieties and fears unconsiously tap into fears of survival.

So whereas fundamentalist religion and personal God promise everlasting life, it's sufficient to sooth feelings of mortality.

3. The gang's all here
These are the clowns who make the Left Behind uh, films. A couple of knuckle-dragging brothers from Toronto. When I first found the site, they were bragging about getting Burt Reynolds into a Christian movie. Like Burt is fighting off scripts these days. Scroll to the bottom to see their full array of offerings, featuring the All-Washed-Up All-Non-Stars

9. Yes indeedy
This does seem to be true in many cases. An acquaintance of mine was a druggie and a biker; now he's born again PITA with some serious anger management issues. I would love to slip him a little something chemical and see if he was more tolerable.
