Do you prefer alcohol or pot?
I ask this mainly for people who have tried both. I got majorly drunk for the first time in two years. That confirmed that I don't like getting drunk as much as getting high. It just seems that I always have some bad feelings when I drink even if I didn't have any when I started to drink. With pot, I usually feel better although there have been a few times that I cried high when I already felt bad or watched a sad movie. I also feel more control with pot and the coming down part seems more predictable. I also feel more social and creative. I usually talk more when I am drunk but don't feel a true emotional connection to the extent that I do with pot. I know other people who do not care to get high or say that it is nothing compared to alcohol. What about other DUers? I am asking about prefernce. Do not take availibility, cost, and risk of getting caught or tested into account.

1. I don't touch either one, myself
but in the context of socializing I would much rather spend my time in the company of people who are high than those that have been drinking. The reasons why should be obvious enough. People are just too unpredictable and moody when they drink. When they're high, they're just... mellowed out.

3. Not alcohol!

Alcohol makes me get the spins and makes me ill. I'm also SHOT for at least one day after having a few drinks. Add that to the fact I don't really care for the taste of alcohol - and there's your answer :)

9. Alcohol
Pot in my younger days, but over time I liked it less and less. Sometime in my late 20's I figured it wasn't worth the bother and gave up completely.

10. Pot definitely
Drinking makes me depressed and often sick. I got really sick last night, which is why I came to this conclusion. I don't think I'm ever going to drink alcohol again.

13. That too
I've usually gotten at least a little sick from drinking. This weekend, I had quite a hangover too that just made me wonder why some people get really drunk often.

11. Seems like booze is getting a bad rap
Nothing wrong with a drink or two once in a while to take the edge off a hard day or to loosen the conversation. Same thing with pot, although in my experience it doesn't lend itself as well as a conversation lubricant.

Pot doesn't seem to affect me. I've tried it a few times, gets me nowhere. I've just resolved to stop wasting people's weed. Vodka and green apple soda all the way.

I love my sobriety. Do you think Rush will be able to live with is multitudinous sins when he's sober. Boy would I love to be in that relab group. He probqbly has to have a bodyguard. HE SURE NEEDS ONE.

The drunk was asked if he wanted an operation to cure his addiction to ahcohol. The said, "No, I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."
How about free lobotomies for freepers? Wait, they've had them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

21. Pot, of course. Alcohol sucks....
I hate the taste of beer, hard liquor, etc. and hate that it turns people into such violent dumbshits. Pot, however, is a very creative drug, and I can do housework when I'm stoned. Can't imagine being drunk and washing dishes. I love the wacky weed.

24. Pot. But because of my job I cant do it anymore.
Here in CA drug screening is required for alomst every job you apply for. Plus if you get hurt at work, like strain your back, the first thing that is done is a drug screen.
I work in healthcare and am subject to random testing at the whim of my supervisors.
So now I hit the budweiser after work. I wish I had my herb to calm me and raise my level of awareness unlike booze that just numbs my brain and brings on depression.
Alcohol Kills, but weed is evil?
Anyone else here have a problem with that too?

26. I have a problem with that too
For me, alcohol is more debilitating physically and mentally the statistics support that in regards to alcohol vs marijuana related deaths, accidents, and crimes. No one (from an official work stand point) never says anything to the alcoholic as long as they don't show up obviously drunk. Smoking pot anytime in the past couple weeks though can be a cause of immediate termination.
It appears that some of us that are like myself and prefer pot are discriminated against while those that are more inclined towards alcohol are protected.

29. I know
But why does the guy that is in jail with his fourth driving under the influence of alcohol get work release (Happened with a guy at my workplace)? That is illegal too. Don't say that is because he did that on his own time. I almost always have at least 12 hours between getting high and going to work. I have never been high at work although I would have been more functional than the tiredness that I experience some mornings.

30. I'm not saying I think it's fair
I can see why a company would have to take a zero tolerance position on drugs, though. It may not affect your functionality and productivity but it does others, and in some instances pot is only one of a couple other substances they are using to get high on.

The DUI guy in your example that got work release got that from the legal system, not the employer. But perhaps your point is that he was welcomed back to work without any diciplinary action. Beats the hell outta me. If it were up to me, I'd lock up a four-time DUI offender in jail and throw away the key. From the information you have given it is not clear if he got all these DUI's while working for this same company. Probably not. I could only speculate on why they wouldn't consider diciplinary action in his case, but I suspect it does count against him in the total weight of things if his drinking should continue to be a problem.

33. I REALLY liked pot
so I don't smoke it now. I used to get high pretty much as often as possible. I handle alcohol much better. It's not unusual for me to not have a drink for weeks at a time; even with alcohol in the house.

There was probably never a not-high day if there was pot in the house.

But I rarely drink nowadays. Pot makes me paranoid. I don't know why and it didn't always used to do that. When I was a teenager I enjoyed smoking pot. Somewhere in my early twenties it started not to agree with me.
