I'm crying too hard. I'm sorry if you don't know what it is about. Ask Ted Kennedy. Ask another member of VVAW (maybe Kerry). Don't ask Bu$h. He wouldn't have a fucking clue.

1. I know that one
It is a sad movie. I'm sure it's more sad for you than it could ever be to me, but it's still sad.

I remember the first time I saw it I was about 13 years old. I'd never seen a real, bona fide war movie before. It was quite a shock. Probably the first time I'd ever seen a real movie without a happy ending, too.

2. Well, at least Iraq isn't like Hamburger Hill
For an accurate comparison to Iraq, you should watch Full Metal Jacket.

5. Maybe, yes.
I lived "FMJ" in 1968. Boot Camp, then 'Nam. No where in my post did I compare RVN to Iraq. I'm just trying to get over the Battle for Ap Bai (Hamburger Hill in the motherfucking A-Shau Valley). Get my bloody, beat-up, lost-war drift?

NOW - OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS - I'LL COMPARE THE TWO USELESS WARS! HANG AROUND. I'M BACK ON THE MOUNTAIN WITH TIME ON MY HANDS.

PEACE,

Mac

3. Brutal
I never saw it when it came out, but got it about a year ago. Full of disturbing images.

4. Here's a good site with the history of the battle...
Hamburger Hill...the real story
<http://www.historyinfilm.com/hamhill/real.htm>

Met a guy in 1979 while I was in the military that had taken part in that battle. He got all shot up but unlike quite a few others he recovered in pretty good shape.
