Allegators and Crocodiles?

That's interesting that they make noise when they hatch and that only the mother allegator comes. Why do allegators take care of their young and not crocodiles?

Is one species just for salt water and the other for fresh water?

The difference is their jaws. One can open their mouth wider than the other, but I don't remember which is which.
