Apparently, there's a cougar wandering around my neighborhood.
Good thing I live on the 5th floor of a security building. Come to think of it, the other day, my door buzzed and I heard a distinctly feline voice say, "candygram..."

So there's a mountain lion on the loose 750 miles from the mountains. Actually, it might be a lynx. Either way, a large-ish wild cat is prowling mid-town Omaha. They think it was probably kept as a pet, then released when the owners realized it was too big to handle. Why the f*ck do people do that?

1. I ask the same thing all the time.
I have a neighbor who feeds the deer cornchips and kid's cereal...wild animals should be eating that crap...for that matter our kids shouldn't be eating it either.

2. This is the second Mountain Lion in Omaha is as many weeks.
After the tiger attacked Roy, the bear attacked the photographer and now big cats in Omaha I think the animals have had enough and are starting to fight back.

In the Plymouth-Canton area. Michigan has sightings of big cats all the time-cougars, panthers, etc.

Memorial Park Neighbors Cautious After Spotting Mountain Lion

OMAHA, Neb., 5:07 p.m. CDT October 13, 2003 - Schools near Omaha's Memorial Park were on lockdown Monday after people reported seeing a mountain lion in the neighborhood over the weekend. Walnut Hill brought students inside immediately as they arrived Monday morning. Brownell-Talbot schools kept kids off the playgrounds at recess.

Teachers said they were relying on school rules they use when suspected criminals are on the loose. "We have crisis management plans for people that don't belong on our campus and this just extends that to include wildlife," said Dianne Desler.

Officials at Henry Doorly Zoo said it is unlikely the cat would be out during the day. Dr. Lee Simmons at the zoo said another sighting is more likely at night.
