We traded Columbus Day for the day after Thanksgiving, so I'm at work today.

It makes more sense. Most people would use a vacation day that day anyway. I'd love to have both, but I don't want to be greedy. :D

Our next holiday is Nov. 11th - Veteran's Day.

Monday is my hell day, so I don't even get out of class until 8, then I have two papers to do for tomorrow, plus I have to find a recipe and go to the store and get crap for it so my roommate and I can make dinner tomorrow night for his girlfriend and her roommate, because it's our week! But not here in Michigan. the postal workers get it off and some banks are closed. But it's pretty much business as usual.

had an office in NYC and they closed every columbus. Maybe it's a bigger thing up there? I always assumed it was a bigger deal out east. I guess I was wrong.

It's gorgeous here today, it would have been a great day to have off. :)

I think more companies used to close for it than do now because of the controversy--you know, should we really be celebrating this guy who destroyed the indiginous population in the Americas, etc? I dunno, maybe in this economy, companies just can't afford to let people off for the "minor" holidays.

Banks and post offices, mortgage brokers and various money houses have the day off. But I'm sittin' here on the rockpile! No holiday for me until Veteran's Day in November... :(
