3. it won't be secret anymore
if I told. :)

oh, just slice cucumbers in a bowl, cover with salt for about 30 minutes. Squeeze out the water.

Add, sour cream, vinegar, paprika, seasoning salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, chopped green onions, and dill weed to taste. :)

I love it extra creamy.

10. Delicious....I am not a cooker I am an eater...so I do not know what
Is in them...but corn pudding is like an egg custard (not sweet) infused with corn...It is TRULY a taste treat.

The 'stewed' tomatoes are cut up tomatoes (canned) with cubed bread and lots of sugar to make it almost like a dessert...very sweet and very congealed, only using bread, sugar and tomatoes...I am not sure if a thikening agent is used? Like I said I am not a cooker I am an eater.

So DELICIOUS....from my grandmother who is the epitomy of the Walton Family. Raised in the mountains of Virginia.

13. Hmmm...it does sound very good...
and technically, tomatoes ARE fruit, so using them for a dessert is pretty neat. :)

16. Both very good
My mother used to fix both of those and now my wife does. I do the dishes.....:)

Another good cucumber dish is called rata(sp). It's a dish from India that has cucumbers, plain unsweeted yogurt and lemon juice. Very cool and refreshing with some of the spicier curry dishes.

Goodness, this got me thinking of Indian food so I going to go fix some chai.

12. I used to work in the restaurant biz
in a tourist area. Last year, two women came in for dinner. As they were getting ready to leave, they asked me (the hostess) if they could buy a couple of cucumbers to have for breakfast.

Oh - the nasty laughter and speculation in the kitchen....

It was very, very difficult to return to that table.

14. Cucumbers - drained or not
with some red onion and equal amounts of Splenda and vinegar to taste. Quick, low carb taste treat, good with any meal. Can make it creamy with whipping cream if wish.

15. Love that stuff, but there's another one...
One my late Sweedish grandmother used to make with cucumbers and onions, but no cream. It floated around in a vinegar base. Very refreshing.

Anyone have that recipe handy?

I think the recipe is, truly, cukes, onions, and vinegar.
Mom used to make it that way sometimes; usually she'd add some milk or sour cream, not sure which. occasionally some dill into it. But really, just the cukes, vinegar, and onions is enough to make a very tasty and gas-producing treat.
