Official Confess your Most Shameful, Unnecessary eBay Purchase Thread

What is the item that you have purchased on eBay with the flimsiest justification - or that you can't even think of a flimy justification for having purchased?

You only have to tell the item and your lame justification for buying it, (or that it is something that you did not need at all and you can't even make up a lame reason)

You don't have to say what you paid unless you want to.

Mine is a pair of reindeer fur boots from Lapland that I told myself I had better get in case global warming made an unexpected U-turn and we had an extremely harsh winter.

I paid $16.

1. I bought a plastic Canadian mountie.
I think he's supposed to be holding a Maple Leaf Flag, but he didn't come with one.

I paid just less than five dollars, plus just over a dollar for shipping.

I was drinking at the time I placed the bid, but he's actually kind of cool.

2. I've bought some goodies on E Bay!
A Denon 3 head tape deck that's GREAT! A new pair of Shure sm57s that are mighty fine! All kinds of bluejeans! Some KILLER Musky lures! Some Vintage Mitchell fishing reels! A GREAT rotary fly tying vise! But the best thang of all is my 'Air Jesus' tee shirt, for $9.99!(check 'em Out on there sometime)

4. The ugliest red silk blouse
ever created.

It's hideous.

The guys on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy would shriek if they saw it.

But I have gotten some great buys, too. And stuff that's frankly hard to find elsewhere, like 60's anime shows I watched as a kid.

5. Funny thing about EBay
I'm listed as 5thGenDemocrat over there, too.
The only stuff I ever buy at EBay are college/high school "jock" jackets, the type with the school letter and awards on them. My ambition is to get one in each letter of the alphabet (I'm at 16 of 26), and I'm waiting for my "L," which should arrive tomorrow from Mississippi.
The least I've ever paid is $3. The most, $44.
John
If anyone has an I, J, K, Q, R, S, U, X, Y or Z jacket (size 40 and up) they want to move, DUmail me.

22. Do you have a special closet for them?

That is a really original collection, when you get all the Roman alphabet, you should start on another one, if you have room, do Cyrillic, Amharic, Hebrew, Arabic...

6. Oh, that's just GREAT-now I feel the urge to search eBay for fur boots
I've bought a few things on eBay over the years that I looked back on and wondered why on earth I bid on that stuff in the first place. Most recently was a really awful pop art painting. REALLY awful.

But I've picked up some great stuff, too...and I'm sure I'll keep right on bidding.

7. Mine was
A big lot of really stupid punk pins. I paid like $10.

Stupidest bids:
Punky Brewster and Heath Ledger pins. The user wound up getting suspended just before the auctions ended.

Put it to good use. It'll be a better world for your having done it.

Go for it in the name of democracy and freedom.

And Jefferson and Lincoln and ....

23. Deion Sanders music CD
Gag gift for a friend who loved him as a player, now embarassed to admit it. Yes, he did actually put out a rap CD under MC Hammer's label:

I paid $1 (the minimum) - it cost more to ship it to him.

I visited my buddy recently and found the CD...still wrapped in its plastic packaging. Good for another laugh. :silly:
