So yesterday I got into a deep funk, posted something quick and mysterious here, left, and got a few people worried. I'm terribly sorry about that.
Something kinda snapped in me; I was thinking (and posting) about the 40 year-old education crisis in this country that has produced a population of ignorant fools that have never been encouraged to be curious about things and therefore are so easy to manipulate on a national level. They're forced to make ignorance socially acceptable, a la Alan Jackson ("...don't know the difference in Iraq and Iran...")
Then the parents who were already a victim of this dumbing-down pull their kids out of school to home-school them, making the whole thing worse. I know this is a broad brush, and apologies to anyone I've wrongfully smeared.
When I came to the conclusion the problem was forty years old and would take another forty to fix if we started right now, I kinda lost it. Powerless frustration. I'm sorry I popped over to DU right then, but I'm thankful for those who expressed concern.
Good bunch here. We've got a lot to do.
