New Kitten alert
We have a new member in our family. He's a orange kitten, my guess is 8 or 9 weeks old. We named him Cosmo. He loves to be held and pet. In fact, he's got a HEMI (his little motor goes and goes when you pet him). He's quite adorable (I don't have any pictures yet, but I'll try to get some soon).

There was a sign on the side of the road, "Free Kittens". It turns out this family found a litter abandoned near their home. I can't begin to wonder why anyone would feel the need to abandon a defenseless little critter like that. The ASPCA and the Humane Society will take these little ones in and find them homes. In fact, one can be charged for cruelty if they abandon a critter, but NOT if they surrender them. It's really very silly and frankly quite heartless to leave them out to starve or to get eaten by a bigger animal.

Anyway, we're glad we've got Cosmo. The other two are still getting used to him, but I have no doubt that they'll all be best buds before the end of the month.

2. That's so nice of you!
I love orange kitties-for some reason they are usually the best hunters.

I can't stand when people abandon innocent creatures-it's disgusting.

6. Beware: it's not weaned yet
The Titty Boy (yes, that is his name) nursed for six months. We found a pregnant stray, brought her in, and that litter nursed for five.

I caught a stray in the Home Depot parking lot--or, more precisely, it caught me; it took me fifteen minutes to get the kitten out of the suspension of my car--who started nursing on one of my older cats. The older cat wasn't lactating when the nursing started, but a day and a half later she was. That kitten nursed for three months, plus however long she'd been at it before I caught her.

Get that kitty some KMR. He'll like you for it.
