I hate to see people leave DU...
as I would suppose that many others do as well.

Now that we are in a the beginnings of the battle to get our country back, it does not seem to be the appropriate time for some of the 'old timers' to be jumping ship.

I will not hold it against anyone to leave, that would be against my core values; but I must state, I feel dismay over losing some of the brightest lights we have.

I cannot express enough, how much fun I've had, and knowledge I've picked up here at DU. Wisdom and humor pour off these pages, and there will be a great vaccuum if others leave this board.

I realize that there are conflictrs, and that occasionally we all get a little uppity, but now is the time to draw together and move forward to defeat the bush cabal. Those that are leaving will be sorely missed in the upcoming fight.

I truly hope that those that hve left return; and those that are contemplating moving on, rethink their position. We are a diverse lot, but the one thing that ties us all together, that 'common bond' as it is, taking down the current administration in the 2004 election. Nothing else will do, and we need all of the people we have, plus some. We are the core, we are what others will build off of, now is not the time to shirk this duty.

Thanks for hearing me out.

1. I, too, hope they return
for the main event.

The biggie is coming and the wisdom and experience of the "old-timers" will be very valuable to this board.

Hope they are lurking and hope they read this as a message of support.

2. I think NSMA was taking a break, but who else?
I know we had some Tombstones recently, and MoPaul left (miss him), but who else?

6. ZombieWoof did not go
gentle into that good night! He was kicked off for being too obnoxious... repeatedly. Not the same as NSMA or others who take a voluntary hiatus.

4. People should not leave...
just because they don't agree with some of the posts. How can anyone make changes to things that they feel are wrong if they chicken out at the first snarky right winger? For all we know, we are being forced to be polite to Freepers.
Well, I don't plan on vacating this site until I am 86ed.

7. There are Freepers lurking ...
and they should not disrupt us from the mission we have. Invariably, they expose themselves, and are tombstoned.

Since we have such a diverse group, it is difficult to see eye to eye on some subjects, as well as the fact that there are a few we may never see eye to eye on. Such is the way of diversity. We shouold not, however, allow anything to get in the way of ousting the current cabal. It is imperative that we come together on this point.

For each that leaves, out base dwindles. These are people of intellect and passion. Many of these are leaders, not something we want to lose.

I have no fear of the current regime, and will fight them tooth and nail, right down to the wire. I will not allow OUR country to be sold off to the highest bidder, and will continue the fight for those that have small voices in an increasingly noisy world.

We are coming down to the times that will determine the path our nation will forge, and we cannot allow the RW to even come close to completing their 'vision' of an elitist state.

how seriously they take their political beliefs even on the board, even among "friends". And I can respect that.

But I do wish the folks who take it so seriously that they feel compelled to leave when it's too much remember we are all here to support each other, eventhough we DUers do represent a large spectrum of "the left," not just official Democrats.

Regardless of how we nitpick each other to death over candidates, over whether * is just plain stupid or a real knowing menace to the planet, our common goal is to change administrations and change the direction of the country. We have bigger battles ahead than just among ourselves.

9. Precisely...
and I believe that as the elction nears, we will all join together in a common unity that will help to get rid of the 'worst president ever'.

We are indeed diverse, but that common thread will pull us through this mess.
