Eggs
Here is my question. When you buy eggs at the grocery store how is that they aren't with chicks inside? How do they make eggs without chicks?

Or do they purpose cause the chicken to miscarry?

1. They are unfertilized.
Chickens will lay eggs all the time, but if there is no rooster to fertilize the eggs, no chick will develop.

3. chickenless eggs are sort of like, um, menstrual cycle stuff
The eggs come out of the chicken whether or not they're fertilized. Same with us chicks---we release eggs monthly, whether they're fertilzed or not. Of course, if ours ARE fertilized we keep 'em inside, as opposed to mrs hen, who will still lay hers but then sit on 'em 'til they hatch.

4. The "inside" of the egg is just an embryo
IOW, you're eating it before it has a chance to become a chick.

9. here is a FAQ

http://www.angelfire.com/oh/ZebraDirectory/faq.html

The Hens are tricked into laying eggs by excess light. In nature they would only lay like eight or ten eggs a year (fertilized, as Roosters would be around as well).

10. History sidebar
When I was little, I remember cracking open an egg in the morning only to find a little embryo starting to develop.

Jaicinto, you've never seen chickens have sex? Man, city people.

21. Chickens do it
doggie-style, sometimes the rooster will hold the hen down. Yes, it looks uncomfortable. But, I've often wondered if other animals look at us when we're doing it and think "boy, that's wierd!" So,

Unlike us women who either do or don't get pregnant right away, she will hold the semen to form an egg.
