Has anyone ever bought a term paper off the Internet?
I am desperate and I have three term papers due by Monday. Has anyone ever retorted to purchasing a term paper off of the Internet.

I would feel like I cheated big time and I don't know If I can do it but If I don't pass my classes with a 3.0 average one of my Scholarships will be cut out immediately.

I had to take several incomplete last quarter and I am on my way to flunking and I am desperate but I don't cheat.

What to do? I don't know should I purchase a term paper off of the Internet for one of my classes that has nothing to do with Culinary?

I think though, it would be wiser to purchase a term paper and modify it a little bit, maybe using bits and pieces of your own material/wording?

on edit:
but i'd definitely try and write it yourself. if you need help just ask DUers, they'll help :)

but it's not your paper unless you wrote it. Tension over deadlines is what causes our journalists to stand like deer in headlights.

Either it's yours, or it isn't. You will only take with pride what you write yourself. The rest doesn't matter.

to have the previous post deleted was embarrassing and shameful. I didn't say anything personal. I believe that was wrong.

17. Whatever your bid to D.C. was...
...I'd NEVER vote for someone who thought it was okay to purchase a term paper and "modify it a little bit..." And if you're up for some vote, your prospective constituents should know that you think this is just fine.

35. Please note
I said if she's going to purchase a term paper, she should at least change it around. Then I added the fact that I thought she'd be better off writing it herself. It is very unfair of you to draw on me by saying i "thought it was ok" because I never thought it was ok. I'm not up for some vote, instead of being ignorant on why I'm going to DC, you should check out the link. I resent very much that you think I think it's ok to do this. Take a look at my other post on this thread and you'll see I obviously do NOT think it's ok. Give me a break, anybody here who knows me would know I work hard in everything I do, and would never cheat on something that big. I write all my own term papers and get them all done on time. Don't give me that crap, because I am very very angry that you would assume I think this sort of thing is ok.

6. you already know the answer
you said it yourself, " I don't cheat." Downloading a paper is cheating, plain and simple. Sounds like you need to suck it up, pull a couple late nights/all nighters and crank those papers out. Oh, and unhook the internet...DU won't help you get stuff done, this post is evidence of that!:silly:

If you have a 4.0 won't that help weigh against any bad grades you might get this semester? Maybe you can still get the incompletes. Otherwise, write those papers.

12. I teach college writing, Corarose...
...I would KNOW IMMEDIATELY if you had not written the paper, and I could immediately find the paper you "plagiarized" (purchased).

Furthermore, if you purchase a paper simply because you ran out of time, you are falling victim to that reprehensible integrity issue, the win-at-any-cost attitude. This IS NOT about whether you make the grade. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY is important! It's about what kind of person you are on the inside.

If you want to just get that grade, go right ahead. But you can consider that if you do so, you are no different from Bush* or his cronies, who will do anything to win.

14. Don't do it
Instead, beg, beg, plead, and explain to one of your professors that you are OVERLOADED and need an extension.
The academic community is extremely harsh on cheating- you could be kicked out- same as if you never did the paper.
Please, do not sink to the level of buying your way through education. That's a Bush thing to do.

16. Okay......the solution is simple........
Go to each teacher and explain that you haven't started THREE research papers that are all due on Monday.

Get whatever extensions you can get. Don't take any more time than you realistically need to get it all done (meaning, don't take advantage of their generosity).

Many teachers will agree to lower your marks by a grade or a 1/2 grade for it being late (it's always a good humble point to ASK for a markdown in exchange for more time; and the teacher is usually impressed with your sense of fairness for not getting the work done when everyone else did).

Today is Tuesday. Get the easiest papers out FIRST (sounds like the opinion pieces on rita/yourself is the easiest.....that's just thought and writing and no reasearch). Get that one done by the end of the day Thursday.

As for the next two papers......get an extension on at least one of them. Work like the devil on the other and get it done by Sunday night.

And Monday......work like the devil to get the 3rd paper done, before the new deadline if you can (that ALWAYS looks good).

It is a matter of just doing one paper at a time and working like fire to get it done. Then move to the next one.

And, if you ever cheat, and it saves your grade point average, you are going to feel like dog poop when you graduate with honors -- cause you will not have earned the honor, and you will always know that.

20. i'd think twice
i'd think twice before purchasing a paper from a paper mill on the web. most savvy professors will research your paper and have access to programs that archive papers from paper mills.

i used to teach english 101 (yeah, i know..i am using lower case letters <grin>), and we were given access to many programs that could track a paper. today, it's nearly impossible to get away with submitting a paper from a papermill. my best advice would be to either ask for an extension asap, or try your best and research your own topic.

24. This is what you do if you don't want a zero: (Please read this!!!)
I'm a fellow college student myself, and this has worked wonders for me in high school and college. WARNING: You may not get over 40 to 50 percent on this if you follow my suggestion, but 40% is better than 0%, right??

Here's what you do:

Take what you already know in terms of the criteria and format of the paper (your instructor SHOULD give you a sheet noting the criteria and format. If not, he/she is breaking the rules), go to your computer with the knowledge of that format, and start writing a bunch of free-style, composition bullshit. THAT'S ALL!!! JUST SIT DOWN WITH THE CRITERIA AND FORMAT AT HAND AND JUST WRITE UP BULLSHIT.

I SWEAR TO GOD, it worked for me in terms of being able to pass classes, and I'm a 3.0 student and usually got no more than 30-35 percent on those papers, but it meant the difference for me between passing a class or failing it, cause I would have failed it if I got a zero.

This is what you do if time is not on your side. It's the BEST THING YOU CAN DO. FORGET all the research and putting-together and synthesizing crap. JUST FREESTYLE IT, BABY. That's my motto. This is what my mother taught me, and it helped her get her master's degree. She has attention deficit, and didn't know it back in the 70's, so she had to find her own ways to get around her disability.

Sometimes, we cannot handle all the schoolwork we've been given us. Sometimes, a class falls to priority four or priority five. That's enevitable. Don't let the teacher of your last-priority class to get pissed at you bacause you had lot of other shit in other classes to do. YOU'RE NOT SUPERMAN.

We cannot change this fact of college. That's just it, it's college. You bust your ass for five to six years, then get a sheet of paper (degree) giving you the opportunity to earn 75 percent more money in the job you will have in the future as opposed to one without a degree.

corarose my friend, this is the great secret of college work I want to share with you. THIS IS THE thing that makes D grades out of F grades. And with your GPA being 4.0 anyway already, I'm sure that you don't have to be worried about it dropping to less than 3.8. And I'm a student struggling to get a 3.0 GPA this semester. I'm the one who has to worry about doing the things now that you don't have time to do.

Trust me on this, IT WORKS. Just freestyle it, baby.

31. "Slanting"??... Time is NOT ON HIS SIDE.
Edited on Wed Oct-15-03 12:35 AM by northwest
My suggestion is not IN ANY WAY "CHEATING" OR "SLANTING". It's called "making the best you can out of a fucking shitty situation". I can't help him with his cooking tests, he's basically screwed on that cooking test (no offense, corarose.;-)), but I can still help out with the term papers.

If I was an instructor in a class, and was given a bullshit paper but also was given an explanation of the circumstances by the student, telling me that he thought of resorting to cheating, I would be happy that the student did not cheat in the end, and made the best out of the situation.

We're not educating astronauts in this world. We're not teaching people to make a perfect thing out of a crap circumstance. We're educating people to do things EXACTLY LIKE THIS. MAKING THE BEST WITH WHAT YOU GOT.

corarose is a 4.0 student. He finally got the workload that caught up to him. It's a shitty situation. WE ALL FACE SHITTY SITUATIONS. He's gonna have to make the bet of it, if he takes my advice. NOBODY'S PERFECT. We can't expect to be able to take in and balance ALL THE STUFF that's crammed down our throats in college (ESPECIALLY if you're in athletics), our job and our schoolwork, studying and tests that comes with that, and be expected to roll it out of our assembly line in the form of perfect, clean A papers, tests and projects.

WE'RE NOT SUPERMEN!!!!

27. My two culinary classes I have to cook in
One class I have to make 8 different breads which means that I am f*cked.

In my meat class I have to make Lamb two different ways plus side dishes and garnishes. Then I have to make Beef several different ways plus the gravy has to be perfect.
Then I have to take a huge meats test and a rustic breads test.

I then have three other classes to hand reports in take several more tests.

28. It used to be people were graded on whether or not
they knew the information to pass the class. If you don't know how to do what is required be the classes, why would anyone ever want to eat your food? If you haven't learned in class how to make it, why on earth should people going to a restaurant want you to be the chef?

Sorry if this sounds negative, but it's that way in any profession. I wouldn't go to a therapist that flunked out, or any other "professional."

Maybe you just need to give it more thought and time? And effort.

34. Why not ask for an extension?
plagiarism is a bad idea. It cheats the student. Explain the situation to your teachers, and see if you can stagger the due dates. Explain that you want to do a good job on all three papers, which is impossible with the time constraints. Odds are good that at least one will have mercy on you.
