Poll question: What Specific Reason Makes You Hate The Yankees?
As a Mets fan, I don't harbor the same amount of hate for the Yankees that I do for say, the Braves.

I don't envy them winning 27 championships.

I don't envy them drafting great players like Jeter and Soriano.

I don't envy them signing big-name free agents year after year.

I respect the Yankees. Because I think we all would like to have a team with an owner (no matter how you feel about the Boss) who LOVES to win and will do anything to claim a championship.

So, why do you hate them?

I just want the Redsox to win.

I am a life long Redsox fan. I have lived through the Boston masacre and Bill Buckner. I do want the Redsox to win and I want them to beat the Yankees. Not because I hate the Yankees, but because I love the Sox.

11. I Don't Hate the Yankees
I just don't like the attitude of some of their fans.

The Yankees are a dynasty. You can't hate them for the glory that they've contributed to baseball.

Pretentious, arrogrant SOB's.

There are other cities besides New York, people, and they don't seem to realize that!

I was born in NY, so I have a right to say this!

And NO, it WASN'T before the Dutch bought it from the Indians!!!!!!

14. Hate? Yes . . . yes, that captures it quite nicely
As for why, well that's a bit more complicated and not reducible to the sound bites America loves so much.

I hate the Yankees because they're a large market team with virtually unlimited funds. They then turn around and defeat every measure that would enable smaller market teams to compete.

The MLB brass love the Yankees, and so perpetuate their advantages. Think it over: When was the last time the Yankees were beaten because of a close or controversial call? And how often do the Yankees profit by a controversial call -- usually one that defies the rules? I'll let fans of the Dodgers, Orioles and Red Sox field that one.

Yankee arrogance, in a class all by itself, that acts as if these systemic prejudices in their favor don't exist, and that their success is solely the result of baseball savvy.

Yankee whining when, despite a deck so heavily stacked in their favor, a superior team manages to knock them off.

While not directly the fault of the Yankees, the insufferable cheerleading by baseball announcers, who similarly like to maintain the fiction that the Yankees don't enjoy massive bias in their favor.

That's just a thumbnail response. I'll sit down and think of more if you really want me to.

17. who cares if the announcers are biased?
They should be, the Yankees are the most successful franchise in major league history. The uniform itself is iconic.

They deserve to be equally despised and respected, IMO.

19. I love baseball and hate the Yankees

Before, I just really disliked the Yankees, being an A's fan and all. But after 9/11 when people started talking that maybe the Yankees deserved to win the Series, oh that boiled my blood. A World Championship is not something anyone deserves, its something you go out and earn.

I oh so loved it when the Diamonbacks won that Series.

It also has a lot to do with Yankee fans, especially those who have never even been to New York. I hate it when a great Series is taking place and everybody is going yawn, and only because the Yankees aren't in it. I've witnessed a few exhilerating Series that went to 7 games, all got dismal ratings because the Yankees weren't in it.

I just wish the general public would realize that there is more to baseball than the New York Fucking Yankees.
