5. I see the avatar has changed
:)

I'll be pulling for Boston tomorrow. Pedro/Clemens could be a historic event. Clemens in potentially his last game, coming against Boston.

2. Yeah
It was a great series. These LCS have been the best in quite some time. Florida got two big breaks last night and really capitalized on them. It could very easily have been the Cubs celebrating last night.

7. I've got to start looking into tix
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (if necessary) are the home games. They sold out really fast for the NLCS.

11. Funny... Florida averaged just under 17,000 fans this year
Now it's the hottest ticket in town?

In Miami, the term "Fairweather," doesn't just mean there are no hurricanes offshore.

14. It's a regional thing
South Florida definitely is not a great sports town. I went to the NLCS games, and I estimate it must have been 30 % Cubs fans. A lot of the ones I talked to drove or flew from Chicago for the games. They sold out very fast b/c of the Chicago fans.

There's just not a lot of native Floridians down here. If it's the Yankees, there will be a ton of transplanted New Yorkers at the game.

8. Miguel Cabrera
I think he'll give the Yankees memories of Andruw Jones in 1996. Even though the Yanks won that series, Jones was incredible.

9. Congratulations as well, BUT
this time if you win the World Series DEFEND your title by not dismantling the team in the off-season.

12. They made it back to the World Series in 1990
and of course were swept by the Cincinatti Reds. The A's didn't dismantle anything. They were beset by injuries in 1991, and won the division in 1992. By 1993, the team had aged, many players were past their prime and the A's did not have the money to buy up pricey talent (like some teams who shall remain nameless). They did not play .500 ball again until 1999.

15. I would like to say that true sportsmanship is a democratic
tradition, in my opinion. The American people have come to understand and respect, and even demand, a sense of fair play. It kept our greatest president in office. If we could all treat each other with a modicum of respect, win or lose, we wouldn't be freepers.

Events of the last few days have lead me to tarnish that view.

Can you say Cooperstown and what happened this past summer? can You say Tim Robbins?

19. To hell with that, now the Dolphins are stuck with dirt
This Sunday's home game vs. the Patriots in Pro Player Stadium was supposed to be an all-grass affair for first place, the dirt infield finally covered and forgotten. Only if the irrelevant Marlins managed a berth in that best-of-seven loitering championship would the dirt survive for one more game.

If Olindo Mare botches a field goal off the dirt, like vs. Buffalo earlier, and we blow the game then I'll finally concur that the front row Cubs fan from game 6 should be experimentally dropped from the highest cloud.

Of course, if the Dolphins had any intellect or Super Bowl aspirations they never would have abandoned the intimidating Orange Bowl in the first place.

20. The problem with the Dolphins is leadership, not dirt.
Then again, what do you expect from a franchise who looks back on the "I can't win the big games" Marino years as the glory days...

22. What?
The Dolphins' glory days are well defined, in Canton and elsewhere. They predate #13 by 10-13 years. Actually we had a #13 as Super Bowl MVP, Jake Scott.

As much as I appreciate trumad's hysterical website, http://firedavewannstedt.com/, I am quite happy with our coach and his emphasis, basic football. The QB could obviously be better, and the interior linemen on both sides infinitely superior. The one guy I would love to snatch from the "glory days" you refer to is Dwight Stephenson.
