Any Harvard Pilgrim members here?
It's time for me to select health care coverage for next year and this is a new option for us.

THe cost is half what I'm paying now for BC/BS HMO and the coerage appears to be identical, with vision benefits thrown in. Even the ratings for customer satisfaction appear better for the Harvard Pilgrim plan.

When I lived in Mass we had the Tufts plan but here in Maine the options are more limited.

Anyone have any pros or cons on Harvard? (I do know they're Red Sox sponsors. :) )

1. I have them
And like them.

I only had one problem w/ them, and the fault may have been my own. I had a complication after surgery and had to go to the surgeon every other day to have an open wound packed dressed. I lost track of how many visits I had made and went "over" the number specified on my referal.

Other than that, HP has been very good.

3. Thanks, Millie
I've done that "over the limit" thing myself.

I'll count you as a positive. Thanks.

2. I have them...
...after a disasterous 2 months with MEGALIFE wich cost me $500.00+ for a physical exam and an emergency walk-in...on top of the premiums that I paid.

I had to go to the hospital again last week (nothing wrong) and asked HP to double check if I was covered.

They said that I could go every day if I wanted to and I was covered 100% minus copay.

MEGALIFE told me I was covered to 80%, although I paid them more than HP, and it turns out that I was roally screwed by them.

Just to recap...MEGALIFE sucks badly. HP is what I have now.

You pay what for what you get, and sometimes you continue to pay and pay and pay...
