We're winning.
Edited on Thu Oct-16-03 11:23 AM by BullGooseLoony
Our goal is of course not winning itself, but I just wanted to tell everyone that I think we're really making progress in this fight against the Bush administration. I know it's been taking it's toll on all of us, but the American people seem to be coming around. It has become well accepted that the administration has lied to the people about a lot of important things, and our party leaders are beginning to take a stand against them. I think that we have the momentum, and the political scene is slowly changing. Yes, we're still taking some hits, but they're getting fewer and farther between :).
Keep up the good work, folks. We're doing great.

As RFK said, "Now, it's on to California, and let's win this thing!"

On edit: I know him saying that doesn't really have to do with anything, but I remember feeling really good seeing him say that.

:toast:

1. I know what you mean...
...and yes, it's damned frustrating. Two steps forward, one step back. But yes, we are making progress. Just last spring we were being called traitors and anti-American for raising points that are now all being proven true. Keep marching...

when dealing with Republicans, it is our PATRIOTIC DUTY to kick them while they're down!

6. RFK didn't say that
He said "On to CHICAGO, and lets win there."

He said it after winning in California and just before being shot.

8. That's right, it was Chicago.

I stand corrected.

I knew the context. Confused me too why he would say that IN California.

7. *wince*
About a minute after he said that, he got his head blown in by some twisted little geek in the kitchen. Excellent rhetoric, but attempting to inspire with the last words of a man who was just getting started before the bullets flew is a bit crushing.

That's why it's inspiring to me.

11. Actually
His victory was far from certain. He scared the shit out of the Dem party machine (which was not dismantled as a power base until after '72), and they were working hard to deny him the nomination. He would not have gone to Chicago with a mortal lock on the thing.

Taking nothing away from him - he's a God, simply - but the idea that he had the nomination sewn up is not historically accurate.

12. thank you
Don't be fooled by the BFEE spin and the pandering of their whores. The misAdministration is seriously treading water and we need to keep fighting. Winning California will be a disaster for them: they can either raise taxes, cut services or let the state tank-good luck. The war will continue being the awful slow bleed it is and the misAdministration's lies will continue to be exposed by formerly cowed foes, or, worse, guilt-stricken former friends. And the economy ain't picking up, folks. Any "gains" will be anemic and, ironically, thwarted by *'s brilliant tax cuts.

15. Bush Is Floundering
Bush is trying to portray his administration as competent, but they're not succeeding at anything. Basically the guy is playing air guitar. Whether he gets away with it depends on whether the Democrats can penetrate the mental fog that enshrouds American voters.
