I know the ice and buried alive stunts were tricks (e.g., switching off with doubles) but I don't know how he could have faked this.

Houdini, eat your heart out. Blaine is a genius. I've figured out most of his tricks, but not this one. It has to be a trick BTW, unless he's something more than human. He does kind of look like Jesus in that picture. :)

I really liked his past TV specials. His style is much more appealing than the cheesy stage magicians of the past.

I actually went to see him 2 weeks ago. I was more interested in nattering away to some fellow Wednesdayites who were there.

The trick itself is a pile of shite really, but the reaction to it by us Brits has been something special. Apparently when the police arrested one guy for chipping golf balls at him the copper who arrested him gave him a lecture on what club to use to get the right trajectory!

Even if you think that Blaine's stunt is shite (as I do) it's been something which we Brits have made the most of. Nobody minds that much that his box has become a landmark.

5. I'm glad he stuck it out...

It's an amazing feat, and I don't believe he "cheated". He gained about 30 lbs before the stunt and there's no reason why someone can't live for 44 days without food.

I also have to say that it's shameful the way the Brits treated him. I've always been very fond of the British, but their reaction to this was horrible.

Admittedly I haven't asked everyone in the country but folks I know think he's just a self-promoting jerk and couldn't care less whether (or how) he did it. More people should have thrown things at him, really.
