I Would Like To Plug My FIRST Item Ever Bought From An Infomercial
Edited on Thu Oct-16-03 04:51 PM by matcom
Folks, a few weeks ago I started a thread proclaiming that i had made my first purchase ever from an infomercial.

I LOVE to cook and am a 'traditionalist' when it comes to BBQ (charcoal only and have a HUGE smoker for ribs, brisket, etc...).

I always shunned gas grills BUT realizing that i live in new england it just isn't practical to shovel a path, pour in charcoal, wait for it to be ready and THEN cook, and because i have a smallish back porch, i set out for a small gas BBQ for efficiency. i made a platform that i attached to the back railing and ran across.........

THE Q-BBQ!

i have cooked on it for a week now and it IS SIMPLY WONDERFUL! uses the small propane canisters that fit up inside the base. one canister lasts about 21/2 hours.

CAVEATE: if you are cooking for more than 2 people, this is NOT your grill. it is big enough for 2 good sized porterhouse steaks (one on each side). plus, it looks like a damn space ship! :D the whole thing is 13lbs and folds up with its own carry handle so its PERFECT for ballgames, picnics, etc...

if you are looking for something similar, their web site is: http://www.thane.com/qgrill.asp

it cooks GREAT! i just LOVE the thing!

7. I got rid of my Forman - Hamilton Beach makes a better product
Don't get me wrong - George Foreman has a great idea, but the cleanup is a freaking NIGHTMARE. Since the unit is all one piece you have to wipe down the unit that is normal dripping with grease. What I wanted to do was be able to remove the grilling plates so I could wash them in the sink.

So I upgraded to the Hamilton Message Mate. Same thing as the Forman but with removeable plates. After I'm done make a mess I can remove the 2 grilling plates and wash them in the sink. Such an easier time for cleaning up!!

http://www.hamiltonbeach.com/products/indoor_grills/25285.html

Plus the grill does expand. I can easily grill 4 pieces of chicken on it, but if I needed to do more the grill lies flat and I can do double the amount (would just have to flip then).

Go Hamilton Beach!!!

2. Well, I gotta say
it just LOOKS cooler'n shit.
I am no longer a traditionalist.
Gas grill does steaks, burgers, any "quick cook" thingy just as well and tasty as charcoal and 4 time easier.
I'm sure you know, it ain't the heat source, it's the drippin's hittin' the heat source.
I still use a Cajun Cooker water smoker for long cookin' things.
I have to look into this.
Thanks.

12. Mine? Some Tony Robbins stuff
I have to say, very intriguing. Got a lot out of it. The books and tapes are actually pretty good. Tony has a lot of energy, enthusiasm and is a pretty funny guy.

Also saw him live once. Met him and got his autograph. Man, the guy is TALL!

Hey, he consulted the Clintons. Enough humility to be one of the few good parts of a terrible movie (Shallow Hal). Can't be all bad.

15. I ama bbq purist too
I use mesquite wood pieces - yes, actual mesquite tree wood pieces, treated like charcoal, which can be found next to the charcoal in most grocery stores. I use an electric starter to start it just like regular charcoal in my Weber kettle grill. It simply is the best. I also use a smoker like you.

Glad this is working out for you, but I will never give up my Weber or real mesquite wood! :D
