need info re: military hardship

We got so many smart people here it's like a liberal google.
Here's the deal:
I know of a 21 year old woman in the air force in SLC. Hill AFB?
Been in about 2 years and was gonna make it a career till the jerkster* got us into the quagmire. Ain't a-gonna no more, but still has 4 years to go on her commitment.
She has an 8 month old baby girl. (Boy the air force has changed since I was in.)
Looks like her unit may be sent over to Iraq. Aerospace electronics or some such.

1. Is there some hardship provision that could get her out of overseas duty?
2. Is there one that could just get her OUT altogether.

Before somebody invokes "duty god and country" let me say that I don't think she had any idea what she was letting herself in for and may not be "right bright" to boot. I know she made her bed, but her parents and family are frantic. I will contact our congressman, but I'd like to have some info from you guys before I do.

2. It's Possible, But Not Likely

It's more then likely that when the baby was born her unit made her fill out paperwork that all single parents have to do. It's called a dependent care plan, basically you make plans for your children in the case of a situation just like this.

Even married couples who are both on active duty have to have this plan on file. I know that this is what the Army does, so I can only assume that all the other services have the same requirement.

That does not mean that there isn't a hardship provision, but just don't put to much hope into it.

If nothing else suggest that she go to her JAG office and speak to a
lawyer there.
