f*cking Yankee haters and thier constant bitching. Give a great team credit for once. Tis was an amazing game. But noooo, more threads bitching about money. F*cking crybabies. Great series Boston, it was a thrill to watch. Go Yankess.

4. I am not a Yankee Hater
But enjoy these years becuase they aren't always going to be the best forever. I am sure that in their history as a franchise that even the Yankees have gone through some very bad seasons.

5. That is very true
and they spent the most money those lean years as well. But no one complained back then did they?

7. Well
Just remember that your team will one day be in the basement of the AL East. It may not happen for several years, but all franchises go through very bad times.

9. Forget it, Carlos. With Slimebrenner at the helm, they'll ALWAYS win it...
They've reached the point of no return. This however, can be stopped if the MLB decides to put in some fucking RULES, like salary caps and revenue sharing.

13. I disagree
One day a team is going to beat them. It's only a matter of time.

It may take a few years, maybe even five or ten. But the Yankees will be in the basement of the AL East again.

As I said teams go through cycles of good and bad performance. They can't keep on winning forever. Eventually someone is going to take them down.

19. from 1981 to 1993
the Yankees finished in first place exactly 0 times. Steinbrenner was thier active owner in all but 2 of those years. He spent money back then and they still sucked. The Yankees are not winning now just because of money no matter what the sour grapes Yankee haters say.

18. Money doesn't always prevail
There are times where high priced teams completely flop. I can think of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles of the late 1990's. However, the Yankees outspend even their closest competitor by so much money, that it's hard to see them ever going completely into the basement. The Yankees have had 2 off-years by their standards, and this year will be a disappointment if they don't win the Series. Their standards are so much higher than that of most teams, and rightfully so.

22. You're right..................

The Yanks having a big payroll in the '80's was not an issue to other fans because we weren't winning, how many people complained about it back then.....now it matters because we're winning......Go Figure.......

6. FOX cares
Their advertisers care. And I stopped giving the Yankees credit for anything right around 1998. Their credit line is maxed out with me. Now, what to watch Saturday during prime time? Ken Burns "Baseball: Volume 1"

10. Dead on: The money argument falls flat in the
wake of this terrific game. Not to mention that Boston had a much better bullpen, and just as quality players. The whole thing is bunk from top tpo bottom.

These teams had

26 meetings this season, including playoffs
12 W's for Boston
14 W's for the Yanks - The 14th was tonight, 5-5, into extras, in the 7th game of the ALCS. Fluke homer by a guy who hasn't hit a goddamn thing all series, and who was benched tonight at third (only coming into the game in the 7th to pinch run after a fluke infield single!).

THESE TEAMS WERE EVENLY MATCHED, and you goddamn well know it. So where's the money? Stop using it as a bitch excuse, when you should commend a fine game and deal. Jeeeeezus.

Now...

THESE LITTLE TOWN BLUES...are melting away...I'm gonna make a brand new start of it...in Old New York ---- AAAAAAAND if I can make it there, I'm gonna make it ANYWHERE...It's up to YOU New York, NEW YORK!!!!!!

11. No doubt.
Not that I condone the attacks on Yankee haters, but those that choose not to watch the World Series are going to miss out on some great baseball. I'm a baseball fan. I'm watching it all the way!

12. I think itll be a great series
Florida is as scrappy as they come, they will give the Yanks fits on the bases. But the Yanks are the Yanks so it may end in a NY sweep or may go 7 ...who knows, thats why I love baseball.

And Im not attacking Yankee haters, Im attacking thier sour grapes attitude.

16. It should be a terrific series
The Marlins are the anti-Red Sox. Fast, base-to-base baseball. They remind me a little of the Cardinals teams of the 80's with Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee, Vince Coleman, et al. It'll be a great series.

Prediction: Watch for Pettite's pick-off move. If you've never seen it, you'll be surprised.

14. Me too
I know it's a letdown for those wanting to see a Sox/Cubs series. But the fact is that they lost to two better teams. I really don't care who watches. I'll be tuned in for as long as the series lasts.

15. I'm not spending one minute rooting for a team to lose. Why should
I watch a team I don't like (Yankees) and a team I don't care about (Marlins)? As far as I'm concerned, watching the Series is supporting Steinbrenner and his rich salaries. The Marlins did it in '97 and the Yankees have done it this year. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now.

23. Shrug. Wanna run a parlay bet
On the tv ratings for the WS versus the AL and NL CSs?

For every ratings point the Yanks/Red Sox beats the WS, you owe me a dollar. For every point the WS beats Yanks/Red Sox, I owe you a dollar.

25. the Yankees may have the highest payroll, but . ..
they also pay through the nose for it in the form of the luxury tax . . . if other teams would put this money into improving their teams rather than in their owners' pockets, some of the less competitive teams might be right in there . . .
