Who likes poppyseeds?
I made a poppyseed strudel (Ostdeutsche Mohn Strudel) last night that is to die for. I can post the recipe if anybody's interested.

3. OK...Poppyseed strudel
Ingredients for filling:

300g ground poppyseeds
300ml boiling milk
75g sugar
2 Tbsp honey
1 egg
1 Tbsp rum essence
100g raisins
250g coarsley grated cooking apples (I use granny smith)

Make a strudel dough or buy some phyllo dough. Roll out to strudel size on a floured towel (dough becomes about the size of a dish towel).

In a bowl, pour milk over the poppyseeds, mix, and allow to stand until soft. Mix in the sugar, honey, egg, and raisins. Stir in the grated apples.

Spread out filling onto 2/3 of the dough and use the towel to roll up into a strudel. Pinch down the ends. Brush outside with melted butter.

bake for 50 minutes at 350 deg F. 1/2 way through the baking, brush with butter again. I also put on sliced almonds.

Very tasty.

11. Sure, you can use real rum
one for the recipe, one for me....

I used 1% milk. Make sure you finely grind the poppyseeds. I used an inexpensive coffee grinder.
