FOX lost chance @ $$$$$
The fact that this will be just a "Damned Yankee" vs unknown Fish world series will cut into broadcast revenues. IMHO, most fans across this country were
enthuiastically pulling for the Cubs & Sox. Now with a ho-hum series on tap, many will just tune out.

8. Let's try this again.
Which network owned the covereage of the playoffs?

The had record viewership and both were the full seven games. If Fox owned those they made plenty of money, and as it's already been said, the Yankees bring plenty of viewers.

Besides, Fox and FoxNews are not the same.

11. FOX owned the coverage
And they made a shitload of money. The other networks threw out rerun episodes since they knew the amount of publicity the games would get.

2. Sa-a-a-a-ay what?
Two of the most exciting playoff series in history...both won by teams that made comebacks again and again...and you think it's going to be a ho-hum series?

6. No one said the play-offs were a bore
The fact is that the Cubs/Sox phenomenon created huge numbers of fans from the fringe. The season is now over for them. They just won't care to tune in. My point is that TV revenues would have been huge if one or both of these historic teams had won in the play offs.

4. have to disagree
the yankees, love 'em or hate 'em, have a massive following all over the country ...

no other team has as many fans in cities all over the U.S. ...

america loves to follow its celebrities and no team in baseball has celebrities like the yankees ...

5. After the two great league championship series
the world series will probably be a let down.

7. I think watching
the two underdogs who haven't won a world series since 1908...Cubs and 1918?...Red Sox, would have been much more exciting. Watching the Yankees in the world series is like watching reruns of "Gidget" <yawn>. :7
It's too predictable. IMCPO

Except, I have to admit, I didn't get bored watching Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls win championship after championship after championship after championship. It's a matter of which team you support? For me, that was the Cubs. I have no interest in watching the world series now. Ya! I'm pouting!

9. Pet Peeve: World Series will not be in HDTV
Cheap arse Fox isn't implementing HDTV until fall 2004 so any programming on the Fox Network is not in true HDTV. (Must have spent the money on right wing hacks and semi-porn shows)
