Jackson Browne's Retro -Relevant Lyrics
I've been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear
You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you've seen it BEFORE
Where a government LIES to a PEOPLE
And a country is drifting to WAR

And there's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs:yourock:

"Lives In the Balance"

2. That is one of my all time favorite songs.
I'm hoping I can afford to go see Jackson Browne when he's in Omaha next month.

4. Yup.
You otter print the whole song. Everything about it is prophetic and could have been written last week.

5. Jackson Browne has understood
what was happening since the early 70's.

He says he was doing mucho cocaine in the 80's. Once he found out that the CIA and Daddy Bush's people were selling it to arm the Contra's he rewrote the lyrics to the old song "Cocaine". Wish I could remember them all, but I do remember this line:

I wouldn't do it, not for 1 more day
If I knew it was coming from the CIA

Cocaine, going all around my brain.
