Because of the strike, the lines in the non-striking supermarket I went to today were really long, so I picked up the "Sun", a tabloid so silly, it's good for a laugh. There is no link, but I'll try to boil it down. Apparently, they claim that all the work Cheney's doing on the bunker under his house is because he's in mortal fear of attack from UFO's!

Apparently there is a classified Project Black Book that is a successor to the Air Force's project Blue Book. They said that Cheney freaked out since reading it and has increased the secrecy around it.

No one knows what is happening at the Vice Presidential residence except that everyone is complaining about explosions and heavy machinery noises. Some have spied and seen plastic wrapped bundles being lowered into holes on the property.

Oh, if you want to thumb through the Sun while waiting in line, the section on Armageddon should get all the fundie's in rupture.

Scary tales about Saddam. Even scarier tales about Osama. And -- ooh, ooh, don't look behind you -- scarier tales yet about Things from Outside that want to take over your house and rape your gerbils and eat your goldfish for breakfast.

Most of us can't afford to be that scared of that many things -- we're too busy worrying about normal stuff, like paying the bills and where that drip in the basement is coming from. But I guess if you've got Uncle Sam covering the tab, you can indulge yourself by putting up defenses against any passing hallucination you might encounter.

Isn't there some sort of law against us having to pay for our national leaders to be weenies?
