Have any of my Canadian friends ever had Buckley's cough syrup? here are some of the ingredients:Camphor, Canada Balsam, Menthol, Pine needle oil, ...etc etc.
I was in toronto this summer and developed a nasty cough(either from pollution or Canadian cigarrettes) and one of my friends gave it to me. This stuff would knock a buzzard off a sh*t wagon! Works though....
Also...in kind of the same vein ....I was looking in this old shop in Gananoque, and found an old newspaper-styled magazine called "The Family Companion" or some such....I always look at the ads in old stuff like that. Anyway, in an ad for Lucky Charms, among the clovers and rabbits feet, was a swastika. This paper was from 1911. Anyone know what's up with that??

2. Some more on Swastikas
Edited on Sat Oct-18-03 05:30 AM by Rabrrrrrr
Apparently many thought of it as a good luck charm.

Coca-cola used 'em:

Edmonton girl's hockey team:

Some good luck coins: http://www.luckymojo.com/goodluckcoins.html (scroll down tot he third and fourth etc. group of pics)

On edit: found something about Lucky Charms - apparently invented in 1963, http://www.tvacres.com/admascots_lucky.htm, so not likely it ever had Swastikas.

4. do a google search -
I found all that just with "lucky charms swastika". And some other pages I didn't link to, since they didn't seem relevant, though quite interesting histories of the symbol, which as we know, is thousands of years old.

5. I'll google
thanks. I guess the nazis kind of screwed up the good luck thing. The power of a symbol is amazing!

6. Symbols do have amazing power
That's why we must be careful in how we use them.

And why we - the democrats, Greens, etc. - need to reclaim the symbol of the American Flag as ours, also. And for the liberal dem green Christians, it's time for us to also reclaim the cross as OUR symbol, and stop it from being associated with world-domination hate-filled mucks like Falwell, Shrub, Robertson, etc.

Symbols have power - hence the incredible power of propaganda, and also why so much work and research goes into corporate names and logos, government posters (think especially Russia, but certainly also the US, especially nowadays)...
