It has been an especially bad day. Work politics just piss me off. I am not talking political politics that play out at work but just the petty bullshit. I swear to god, some people just are idiots, jerks, socially inept. So I am going to drink tonight, but I feel like wine. What is good?

Savignon Blancs are particularly good. I'm a fan of Babich and Brandicott but JimmyJazz and I had a nice one from the Noblio vineyards last month

My fiancee is a wine distributor's rep, and we get a LOT of free wine. Castlerock is extrememly popular, and a very good value.

Ahh, 2002 New Zealand Pinot Noir. I'd go with the Palliser Estate or the Brancott Terraces Estate, both will set you back 35-40 bucks.

You may be tempted to get a sangiovese or an aghiorotiko to match the spiciness of the rosemary. Don't. the chicken will get lost. Rosemary lamb, maybe, but your chicken isn't gamy enough.

Worst possible bottle? well, staying with the red theme and price range...1999 Begali Amarone. bout 45-50 bucks. Why the worst pick? great bottle of wine, bad with your meal.

33. Actually, I bought that bottle on Isle St. Louis in Paris in 1999 on my

honeymoon. It's still unopened. It's going to take one hell of a special occasion to get me to open it.

So tonight I finally broke down and poured myself a glass of Louis Jadot Pinot Noir. Not at all expensive for a decent French wine ($18, $14 on sale).
