"Impractical" purchases/hobbies YOU don't regret......
paying for. :)

Sure you could be squirrelling away money (which I'll admit is VERY smart!!), but what do you spend money on that could be put to "better" use.

Me, my tiel, Murphee, Sure I didn't "have" to buy her, I have debts to pay off, things for the apartment I need to buy, but I don't regret buying her. She's my last "big purchase" I'll be making for the next few months, and she gives me a lot of love. :bounce:
 :)
:loveya:

3. Of all things, my tattoo
Probably because it is something indelible, something that can never be taken away from me...at least not without causing somebody else a LOT of trouble. :)

6. Ha...my buddy spent $300 buck on sunglasses...
Left them on his jobsite...spent another $300 that weekend his dog knocked them off the dock into the lake!

He had to go swimming for an hour to find them...too much money for me to spend on sunglasses!

8. $900 range hood
In a $37,000 house. The contractor thought I was crazy, "You can get a perfectly good range hood for under $100." But it's copper and beautiful and it just about sucks the lids off the pots so I can cook anything without smelling up the house. I've never regretted it.

9. books, old chinese embroidery, and of course, the reindeer fur boots

My rationalization is, if I had saved the money, and waited ten years, I would still want the same books, the same embroidery, and ok, ok, the same reindeer fur boots, but they would all cost more, so taking the long view, I saved money.

10. Books are my guilty pleasure
I have too many and I've probably not read half of them. But you could start a progressive library with my collection. I need to stop buying them so I can catch up on the reading.

Next up - Paul Krugman's "The Great Unraveling", but I just bought "Fast Food Nation" yesterday

11. Photography
A digital SLR, several lenses, and all of the trimmings. It doesn't make financial sense, but it helps me to find a center in myself, or at least to get closer.

13. My 12 inch powerbook Macintosh computer
that I bought for a very significant birthday....

I had a relatively good winblows machine but I was of the impression that this birthday needed to be observed in a more significant way than normal. I had been eyeing the Mac each time ventured into the Apple store.

I love my Mac and don't regret it even when I make the monthly payments.

16. Novation Supernova II synth
I hardly ever play, and i can hardly play at all, but hey, the dirty distorted analogue synth sounds have to be heard to be believed - very very nice to just fek about with after a spliff :)
