Whopping case of depersonalization.
Ugh.

Today I have it bad...that weird sense that I'm behind my own body. I would never tell my mother this because it would confirm her "demon possession" theory.

I think it must be caused by just the right mixture of physical pain, emotional pain and fubar blood glucose. I should check my glucose levels when I'm feeling that way, huh?

Anyway, please stick with me through this. I'm going to probably have to put myself to bed for awhile and watch some mind-numbing TV.

1. Hopefully Your Parrot Friend Can Cheer You Up

Animal companions are very comforting.

2. Mom's are always right.
Have a hot bowl of soup, call a priest, and securely tie yourself to your bed.

Oh, and tell Moloch that Beelzebub says"hi."

3. Anything you can do about the blood sugar?
Hope so, and that bad tv helps some, too. Sending best wishes your way.

4. If your diet permits, pizza is both therapeutic and exorcistic

For your particular condition, you should probably eat it while watching the original Yul Brynner"King and I," followed by the more recent Jodi Foster version.

The resulting involuntary contrast and compare seizure will last for days, eclipsing all other maladies or conversation topics.

6. This is hysterically funny, mostly likely because
it just might work. Also, you seem to have prescient idea of how my mind works. Either that or your mind works the same way mine does. It would be the perfect way to engage my OCD were I not so tired today. :)

I'm going to keep this idea on ice. I could force myself to do all kinds of compare and contrast exercises instead of letting my mind obsess on something negative.

5. I've had that too
It has happened to me a couple times when I've been really stressed out and it happened a little when I had my killer hang over. I read a web site about anxiety that said that this is nothing to be concerned about if it happens occaisionally for relatively short periods of time. Yeah, do something that doesn't require much thought. You might want to eat if it is your glucose.

7. Eating is good.
I have two real meals in the past three days. That probably has a lot to do with it.

8. Depersonalized
Might I suggest something,a kind of"grounding" excercise?

Sit in a chair,as you sit there pay attention to your feet.If you got shoes on or socks or nothing notice how they feel resting on the floor or whatever you rest them on.If your mind wanders, don't worry, just renotice your feet again.
Than move up to your legs, notice how they feel.Move up your belly,shoulders..until you get to your head, notice how you are holding your jaw,and feel the tensions in the face, notice the thoughts you might be having.

And listen to your internal thought chatter.

Notice where you are what's going on around you.The sounds, air temperature ,smells, sights ect..Identify that's the heater running,or that's my parrot..ect..

And I think either you may uncover what it is you are depersonalizing yourself away from (if you do you might want to either talk to someone write, draw or something..)or you might feel yourself nicely grounded into yourself again.
I have dissociation and this works well for me most of the time..
Take care whatever you do OK? And keep safe.

9. Exactly! We did an exercise like this in drama class
It was called "being in the here and now." We had to be acutely aware of all sensations and how our bodies were feeling. I also think she should eat something. Changes in blood sugar can cause all sorts of disquieting symptoms.:donut:
