I thought they alternated home field advantage each year, and I'm sure the Angels had four games in Anaheim last year!

Beginning this year, Selig implemented a plan where the winner of the All-Star game would get home field advantage in the World Series.
You're right in that it would have been the NL's turn for home field this year.

Some unknown player for a last place Texas Rangers team hit a meaningless home run in a meaningless game back in July. Makes perfect sense doesn't it? Welcome to the wacky world of Bud Selig and Fox.

Hank Blalock hit the HR that gave the AL the victory.
It was all a sham IMO. FOX desperately needed a way to lift ratings for the all-star game. He needed to give it some sort of meaning. Now an exhibition game controls who gets homefield in the W.S. :eyes:

5. Thanks--I'd forgotten about that! |
|
I just wonder how long it will take until they switch the rule back to alternating!

6. It's set for two years |
|
So it expires in 2004. I have doubts as to whether Selig will renew the experiment.

7. Guess he had to do something after last year's "tie" |
|
Doubt it will be renewed.
