Poll question: Best CLASH number
Anybody replying with Other votes for "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?" or "Rock the Casbah" needs to slap themselves. (Kidding! Kidding! Don't beat me!)

1. Name a bad Clash song--I can't.
Too many to choose from, although I'm currently leaning toward "Clampdown" from your list, because I am coming to terms, at 36, that "I grew up and I calmed down, I started wearing blue and brown".

I think my absolute favourite is "The Card Cheat", from London Calling.

Voted for 'Stay Free'. 'Lost in the Supermarket' is another.

I love to crank up 'Safe European Home'.

7. "Know Your Rights" comes to my mind these days. . .
"and Number Three. . .
You have the right to free speech;
as long as you're not dumb enough
to actually try it..."

10. Did the Clash ever do a lousy song?

If so, I sure as hell can't think of it.

And thought I voted for "I'm So Bored," I'd like to give an honorable mention to "This Is England."

17. Wow! The other person who bought "Cut the Crap"!
I also saw them on the tour for the post-Mick album that never got released. You know, before the replacement guys had actually learned their instruments. Bad bad bad, but still a good time. "This one's for Margaret 'Billygoat' Thatcher!" Thank you Joe...

12. No votes for "Death or Glory" yet?
I fixed that.

Also think "The Call-Up" should be on the list too. Oh wait, how about
"I'm Not Down", or "Magnificent Seven", or...
Now I need to get out those albums and listen to them again!

14. The Guns of Brixton
I always think of John Ashcroft and the Patriot Act when I hear it.

When they kick down your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands upon your head?
Or on the trigger of a gun?

15. Me too
Guns of Brixton is a great one and will always be relevant - unlike the Clash themselves, how punk can you be to sell a tune to Jaguar for a commercial. I know Strummer made a big thing about how the band members didn't make a lot of money back in the ol' days but really couldn't they just have released a "best of"????

20. Other; "Police & Thieves"
yeah, I know it's a cover, but they had such a commanding grip on the groove in that one, while still retaining their energy.

Hell, it's hard to pick one Clash song; I pretty much love all of em (except everything on Cuth the Crap). This was a decision worthy of King Solomon.

And, hey, all, the last Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros album is coming out soon!
