My Cat Is Gay
Not that it particularly bothers me, but I was surprised that he had no reaction to a feral female outside my front door. She was obviously in heat - the long meows and (for a cat, I guess) sensual behaviors.

My cat made no move, did not react at all. He just sat there staring out the open window apparently thinking she was crazy.

He still attacks humans at the most inopportune times, but had no hankering for the opposite sex when she was there for the wooing.

What should I do? Is a cat psychologist needed?

2. Is your cat fixed?
That could explain the lack of interest to be sure! Maybe the cat outside was a "gay" male cat that you mistook for a female? Or maybe the cat outside had a bad reputation? Who knows-

10. It could just be that the cat
outside was a cross-dresser. That wouldn't necessarily imply that he was gay.

But, yes, perhaps the lack of interest was a result of being selective and not just taking the first pussy that throws itself at him. You raised him well.

Either that or he's been watching Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson behind your back...

11. Wow, this is getting complicated
I don't want to burden him with guilt, but he does seem a bit more religious than he used to be. I wonder what he watches on tv when I'm gone?

What to do? What to do?

12. When he is bathing himself,
does he no longer lick down there? This is the diagnostic determination.

Unless he's been watching Jimmy Swaggart, of course.

15. I have NEVER seen him lick down there
but he did have a dingleberry hanging off his rear end yesterday, and seemed quite upset about it.

Is that a cry for help?

20. I'm SO CONFUSED
is that a good sign or a not-so-good sign?

Maybe I should just accept that he may be auto-erotic. He doesn't seem to get excited about much of anything other than fresh, human blood.

Fresh human blood?

Um...does your 'cat' have...wings?

I'm thinking Desmodus rotundus - it would explain the lack of interest in female felines...

5. My Shih Tzu Is A Lesbian
We don't understand why she chooses this lifestyle. We've tried to be good owners. I hope it's just a phase and that she meets the right boy. Maybe therapy is an option. Perhaps she's just doing this to spite us.

26. Their Relationship Went ... Pffft!
The cats obviously know each other. Cats don't need to vocalize, everything can be done with a glance. Your cat and the other one were at one time very close, but alas they just grew in separate ways. When she came to the door, he said "Please Alice ... let's not start in again. It always ends so badly, for both of us."

30. I feel your pain.
My dog is also gay, and he loves sex. It doesn’t matter how small or large the boy dog is he is fair game. Sometimes the sex appears nonconsensual, but we won’t go there. None of the other dogs will come around anymore, who can blame them? They are straight and my dog is trying to force his homosexual agenda on the others. He hasn’t had a lasting relationship and that worries me. We are fine with the no grandpuppies part, the world is a diffcult place for the young now so maybe its better this way...

31. Male cats are not like Male humans--they won't just jump at any offer!
I think your male cat was not in heat at the time the female was--their timing was off.

Also, if your male cat is indoors, I think he is less likely to go looking for it--the instinct isn't as strong.

Sadly, I wish your cat were gay, but I don't think there's enough evidence right now!

35. RE: My Cat Is Gay
What should I do? Is a cat psychologist needed?

I think you are spending way too much time trying to figure out a creature that man has been trying to figure out since the ancient Egyptians...and women of course.

yeah, cats and women are two of the earth's greatest living beings...that remain a complete mystery.

A cat psychologist? Hey-ever see that movie "Down and Out in Beverly Hills"? Just brought that up 'cause your post made me think about it...

36. My cat is a lesbian
She hisses and spits when male cats try to visit with her, but fawns over the female cats. She is still mad at me because I gave one of her "girlfriends" to a friend of mine. Her girlfriend was a very young cat, and just ran around the neighborhood, so I figured it'd be better for her to have a regular home. But my gay and proud kitty has been moping around so much that I am thinking of going and bringing her back. Just can't take the energy around here, y'know?

38. We have a gay cat, too
He's a beautiful boy, and the breeder had bought him intending to use him in her lines, but when she tried to put him with females in heat, he cowered in the corner in terror. None of the females got any different reaction from him. She finally did the humane thing, had him neutered, and let us adopt him (at great financial loss to herself, I might add). He's our little hairdresser - he'll sit and groom our eyebrows or hair for hours. He'd like to groom the other cats, but the other male thinks he wants to wrestle and throws him to the ground, and the female is a homophobe and treats him like a wino sitting on her Mercedes. He's a sweet, silly boy.

My husband used to know a couple who had a dog and cat who were interspecies homosexuals. It was a little poodle and a Siamese, both fixed males, and deeply in love with one another. The poodle humped the Siamese more or less continuously, while the Siamese would hunker down, butt in the air, tail to the side, purring like a mad bastard. It got so embarrassing that the couple tried giving the cat away, and both animals pined until they began to fear for their health and reunited them. They humped happily away for the rest of their days and died within a couple weeks of one another.
