Is anyone else getting the spam for Vicotin, Valium, Oxycontin, etc...
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 06:04 PM by Gman
Spam for these appears to have replaced, at least for the time being, the spam for Viagra and male sex enhancers although I still get it this spam once or so a day.

Almost from the git-go when Rush announced that he's a junkie, the spam for the various pain killers started. Did anyone else notice this and is getting this type spam?

--on edit--

Mods if this belongs in the lounge, move it on over. I think the topic has some political overtones because of the timing of the Rush's announcement and the beginning of the appearance of the spam.

1. I have been getting that spam recently too
I didn't notice the timing with rush, but it does kind of make sense.

3. You're absolutely right
And I work for a pharmaceutical company! Never mind your needing a prescription--who'd be nuts enough to buy such drugs off the internet anyway. And never mind Tommy Chong's bongs--why isn't Ashcroft going after these guys?

5. yes, loads of it
was the first spam i had gotten, ever. I thought i had very carefully protected my email address, i have 2 addresses and this one was the clean one. Then all of a sudden, they start coming in. I've blocked the spammer everytime, and it shows up with a new sender.
They are mining the addresses, since i'm receiving them with other addies at the same isp included in the to: line.

it's ridiculous!

8. I dunno...
I'm on a mac too and am getting tons of spam from drug companies. Mostly about dropping weight though, which is ironic. That and emails about having won some freelotto mystery prize. How do you get rid of these type of emails?

9. I'm on that wonderful AOL
30 messages, all spam. And I hate the spam that pretends it's from someone you should know. I think my name has popped up in a few.

10. AOL's commercials about spam blocking is a joke
they should be brought up on deceptive trade practices.

Sometimes I use AOL when I'm on the road as an ISP. I start AOL then minimize it and use IE. The last time I did this I started getting messages via NETSEND which is a program that resides on your computer if you use a flavor of NT. It's normally used to send messages to another user on your network. I kept getting these Netsend messages with an OK button. Boy was I pissed at AOL.
