I'm getting my head X-rayed on Wednesday.

They think I may have a tumor on my pituitary gland. It's not a big huge deal (not fatal or serious), but it may be why my prolactin levels are so high. Has anyone else been diagnosed with a pituitary tumor? If so, what did they do?

1. My cousin was diagnosed with a benign tumor like you're

describing. It was about 6 years ago. She found out because her periods stopped and she found out she wasn't pregnant. She was about 28 at the time.

She ended up on medication, had to make some changes in that to get pregnant and carry to term, and then went back on the original medication. She's doing well with the medication and monitoring the situation.

2. When I lost hearing in one ear suddenly

they thought I had a brain tumor......

went through the whole MRI bit...scared the crap out of me...hearing loss turned out to be damage from a fall I took on an icey sidewalk...knocked me unconscious for about 5 minutes....

The x-ray, MRI bit is no big deal unless you are clostrophobic...being in that tube is a little tight...

I'm hoping that they find the cause of this so that I can get on some kind of therapy to correct my hormone imbalances so that I can get pregnant. How was that for a run-on sentence? It's late-grammar be damned!

A friend of mine had this, had to have surgery, but she is fine. She had been having weird hormone problems too. Again, good luck to you!!

Actually, I'm kind of excited to see the picture of my bones. I know it's kind of childish, but I think it is going to be cool to see my skull. I have had an X-ray of my foot before, but I think that the skull is going to be much neater. I have my husband and my mother going with me. I think they are going for the very same reason. I am very lucky to have the support of my loved ones. They go with me to all my appointments.

It is actually quite common to have a benign tumor there.
