Quick question for Saab owners

What in the heck are those two flappy things that hang under the car near the front doors? I've noticed them lately, and I can't figure out the purpose of them. Thanks in advance!

2. No.

The things I'm talking about are underneath the car, near the doors. They just hang there, with no apparent purpose. You can't see them unless you're looking under the car. For the life of me, I can't figure out their purpose.

in those things backwards? Anyway, Saabs are designed by aeronautical engineers so I bet their high speed air/water diverters. I think that's a fancy name for..... mudflaps. :lol:

That one guy who was obsessed with Saabs? When the Ad Company gave them all cars he got his Saab 900 and of course it didn't start and he says, "Yes!!" LOL. Too funny.

4. Saabs are nice,

but I'm not a big fan of them. Those weird flaps under the car are driving me crazy, though. They must have some purpose. I asked a co-worker who owns one, but he didn't know either. Maybe they ward against moose-collisions or something.

Saabs are terrible. I owned a 99GL, and it was the worst car I ever owned--even worse than my Vega. Then someone I knew owed me money, so he gave my the 900 he inherited from his dad. I even felt ripped-off geting a Saab for free.

Worst...automobile...ever.

9. I had a 1964 Saab 96 and a 1971 Saab 96.

The '64 was a good car (two stroke, 3 cyl 850 cc engine) but the '71 was a piece of shit and probabably anything after '70 is/was a piece of shit. I do agree with you "... but rest assured, fi they're on a Saab, they'll break".

10. I deserved to suffer with the 99GL...

..because I knew even before buying it that the engine was licensed from the Austin Marina, which, by all accounts, is even worse than the 99, and isn't even nice to look at.

They're part of the underbody aerodynamics. Exactly what they do, I'm not sure. Not mudflaps.

Recent Saabs are waaay better in reliability than those from the early to mid 80's. I'm in the process of finding a mid-90's 9000 which I plan on owning for a long time - these can be taken to 300+k miles with some TLC. New Saabs are top-rated for reliability, plus they're the safest on the road, so for all you folks who have had trouble with 'em, you might want to look again!
