In a fit of irrational exuberance, I posted a thread last week, sharing my exuberance and happiness. The cause for my exuberance, was near simultaneous reports, one on Nightline, the other on 60 Minutes II, about the Bush regime's lies leading up to the Iraq war.
Not since the Watergate story broke, had I seen such hard hitting reporting against an administration, Both stories basically called Bush and his cabal liars, a first in mainstream media since Bush was selected. I got excited. Too excited, and I apologize, for the very next day, both stories promptly dropped off the radar. I was as stunned by this turn of events, as I was from the stories themselves.
Apparently, the media is so corrupt, and so "in-bed" with this mis-administration, they were able to bury the stories just like that! I should have known better. For starters, they ran the stories on a game night, insuring they would
not be seen by millions. then, there was the complete lack of follow-through. And now, it looks like the "Wilson/Plame" story has been lost to Kobe, and Iraq "feel good" propaganda, and a hundred other shit stories.
I seriously underestimated the venality of our media these days. Somehow, I fell into a nostalgic fit, thinking they still gave a damn about democracy, and the health and welfare of our nation.
I was wrong.
I am sorry.
I'm sorry if I got anyone's hopes up.
